The bill is nothing more than blatant redistribution of wealth, if this is going
to be approved we might as well let the federal government come in and take $
from "rich" Utah to give to "poor" West Virgina. Neither is
right. Control of what to spend, and the resulting $ should be kept
locally, truth is not all value education the same, districts have had truth in
taxation hearings and citizens have supported or not-supported certain levys
with the understanding that they will be spent LOCALLY.
We spend four times what other countries do, and we hold the world record for
funding education. Why are we still discussing school funding?Come on people! Let's learn how to budget.
Yes, Robin Hood sounds much sexier than Socialism.
I think Robin Hood was a misprint, this is more like a Sheriff of Nottingham
robbing (taxing) the poor and giving it all to the rich. All schools
have a right to the equality of the taxation and federal funding for education
that comes to Utah. Why should the schools that the Sheriff favor get $30,000
per student and those he considers undeserving $700 per pupil? Put equality back
into education and eliminate this concept of Robin Hood and Sheriff of
Nottingham funding. Teacher salary should be set by state law as is
all government workers, based on skills and educations. Schools should not be
allowed to hire and pay teachers out of its per pupil funds which is property of
the students and all taxpayers. Teachers should be distributed by school
districts and located in schools closer to where they live. Exclude teacher pay
from per pupil funding and make it a state employee fund. This
representative and wealthy are out of line by thinking education should be given
by favoritism and wealth of parents. Change taxation laws and give every child
an equal education. The system needs and overhaul anyway to eliminate
disproportionate per pupil education standards.
There's an irony that the bill is sponsored by a conservative and opposed
by limousine liberals. It's all academic to underfunded schools in rural
areas with little tax base.
Robin Hood took from those who stole from the poor.Today, it's
stealing from success, and redistributing in an unfair way.
