biggest decrease in disposable income in 20 years?Probably
bush's fault. Or Mitt Romney's. If Mitt was poor I would be richer
I know it. I have no logic for that assumption, but I know its Mitt's
fault I'm not richer than I am.
wait - I thought this past election was all about 'fairness'? The
jacked up taxes we ALL got hit with Jan 1 is all part of that fairness - an
opportunity to participate in wealth redistribution. It should warm the heart to
know that your smaller take home pay is being wisely used by the federal
government as hand out pay to the ever growing army of "Obama bums".
Obama is the worst President we have had maybe ever! The list of broken
promises is never ending. Meanwhile our country gets weaker, less educated, and
most of all more dependant on the government. He promised the debt would be cut
in half. Literally the opposite happened. Said sequestration wouldn't
happen. It was part of his agenda the whole time. Food stamps, and other
government benefits are at an all time high. Obama wants the government to raise
our kids in federally funded preschools instead of putting the responsibility on
the heads of the parents. Obamacare will hurt small and large businesses and
this economy. He has failed as a leader and he can't blame anyone but
My wife's paycheck is $100 less a month than it was. Mine--because
I'm part time for now--is about $50. Losing $150 a month is a lot of money
when you're only pulling in $30,000 a year. I can think of a lot of things
I could use that money for.
Our household income has dropped around $180/month. And that was just from FICA
tax increase. Yet those on welfare around me, that are able to work, but refuse
to. Are eating steak again tonight. The hard part with the cost of
food increasing, taxes increasing, fuel cost increasing etc. It only hurts those
of us that are too rich to be on welfare, but, too poor to be rich. We're
struggling mr president. Where are you? What about your promises? The only
people that have benefited in the obama economy are the super wealthy Warren
Buffett, GE, Al Gore, Clintons etc. and those on the very bottom that are able
to work, but, love stealing and living off of others. But, we're
told things could have been worse. I'm not sure how. Maybe if biden was
president? or if we borrowed and spent more than we currently are? How could it
be worse obama?
"Not only is the economy recovering slowly, but the standard of living is
falling for about half of Americans. This is in part due to the lack of
productivity, according to the article."The person who wrote
this doesn't understand productivity. When productivity goes up, it means
workers produce more product in a given time period. Put another way, a company
can produce more product with fewer workers. What actually happens when
productivity goes up is that labor costs go down. This means less money goes to
labor and more to shareholders and executives. If workers'
paychecks are decreasing, it is because management is paying them less and
keeping more. It's that simple. Go to Youtube and watch the viral video
about wealth inequality. It's pretty clear what's happening in this
country. And there's only one way to permanently reverse it: encourage
worker ownership of businesses with tax incentives and other inducements.
The best way to help the common worker isn't to raise their pay, but to pay
the CEO of the company they work for even more than they are paid now. This will
motivate common workers to become CEO's themselves and make even more
I'm glad I don't have it on my conscience that I voted for Obama.
To "Kent C. DeForrest" I don't think that you understand
productivity. When more items are produced by a set number of workers, it still
costs the same to pay those workers. You also assume that the items are being
sold for the same price, which may or may not happen. You are wrong
about why paychecks are shrinking. They are shrinking because of taxes and
mandates that eat away at paychecks. In the past year paychecks have been
reduced through teh expiration of the SS tax holiday and the new mandates on
insurance companies and businesses. The business owners had nothing to do with
Thanks Obama, thanks Democrats.
