"It's a concern,we need scoring and need to get a better flow with that
1st group" Corbin said.Coach, ( and I use that term loosely)
it's not a "better flow with that 1st group" that we need at all!!
It's a different 1st group all together that we need. You need to put on
your big boy pants and make some changes. There are so many people that are
unemployed in this economy and how you still have your job blows my mind.
Maybe Corbin was defensive because he knew that he blew it! Not playing Favors
in the 4th and overtime cost them the game. The truth hurts but that
doesn't mean that it's not the truth.
I say start Jeremy Evans in place of Marvin Williams. What do you have to lose?
He brings instant energy and better defense. You could also insert Burks for
Foye. Foye could bring a spark off the bench, and Burks will definately give you
points from your starter.Start:BurksHaywordEvansMilsapFavorsOff the Bench:FoyeCarrolKanterTinsley?
This team ceased being enjoyable to follow when Sloan left, it's just too
bad the management doesn't give Corbin any way to enforce accountability
among the players. They do what they want when they want, and know they
don't have to answer to anyone.I can't imagine Favors will
want to re-sign with the Jazz if they won't let him help them win games
down the stretch. Unfortunately you can't fire the owners, and KOC seems
fairly entrenched so I don't see a possibility of improvement anytime soon.
I wonder if Coach Corbin is in over his head. He has thrown so many darts at the
roster that the holes in the wall are starting to become very noticeable.
We all know that Corbin can get defensive in interveiws. When is he going to
start demanding it from his veterans out there on the court.
Favors could have saved that stupid loss and Coach Corbin needs to listen
up.They failed to cover those hot shots. Favors could have helped. Why play
starters who fail to score. The fans should be consulted. Corbin is in over his
head...or is it the management. With the right coaching that game need not be
lost with the talent we have on this team.
The only change he will make is Tinsley back in for Watson. Kind of like
changing your flat tire with another flat tire..
The decision on Favors was very questoinable to say the least. Corbin states
that he wanted to play Kanter. Great, then take out the injured Millsap and
insert Favors. That type of decision is enough to label the coach as
questionable and to call for his replacement. The loss to Milwaukee is enough to
end their playoff season. Four of the next five are on the road with at least
three losses looming. The only savior is the fact that the Lakers have a
monstrous final 20 game schedule with most games on the road. The Jazz may
survive and limp into the playoffs.
Did you people even watch the game? Favors scored 15 of his 23 points in the
first quarter, which means he only had 8 in the last three combined. On the
other side, Kanter and Milsap combined for 40 points which was almost all in the
final three quarters. Favors was nearly worthless by the end of the third,
which was the quarter where the Bucs had a huge run on us which stopped after
Favors came out. Then, with Favors out in the fourth quarter, we made a
comeback, and almost won the game. The players who were killing us were Ellis
and Jennings.....we're you expecting Favors to guard them? Taking Favors
out was the right decision by far.It is so funny to me that as soon
as Jefferson is out, you have to look for another scape goat. People keep
calling for Corbin's head as if finding a decent coach in the NBA is a
piece of cake. Remember all of you who were calling for Sloan to go? You got
your wish. Careful what you wish for, if Corbin goes, we won't get a coach
as good as him for a long time.
If it is true what Coach Corbin says that he liked how the unit on the floor was
playing and decided not to make changes, that is fine. If Jazz had won, which
was as close as Hayward making an easy runner or Canter getting that jumper,
this issue would not have come up.My main crib with Coach is that
the players make fundamental mistakes which by now his 2nd year, should have
been corrected. Like Burks not crowding jennings when Bucks needed a 3 or
setting up a high percentage plays out of timeouts, etc. This team is about 5-6
games better than their record now and that that are not is I feel is because of
some poor coaching. Has anyone noticed that a lot of bad losses were against
veteran coaches in close games?Coach Corbin, like it or not, is
growing up along with the young team he is "coaching"!
My complaint about the Bucks game was the third quarter. Up 3 at halftime, then
wait until the 4:30 mark of the third and down 12 points to make any changes.
What's up with that?
I've felt for a long time that Coach Corbin is a good coach, but his
substitutions are definitely his weak point (and I wish they would run the pick
and roll with Favors). My starting lineup would probably be. Burks, Foye(or
Carroll), Hayward, Favors, Canter. Their defense would be insanely good and so
far the young ones have proven they can score when they get the minutes.
The problem is the Jazz get out of their offense in the last 2 minutes and start
playing one on one. They take incredibly stupid shots and throw the ball away.
The Bucks could have been easily won in regulation or overtime. I like IRS
agents idea of starting Evans. Get that guy in the game. He plays incredible
defense, similar to Kirelenko but better.
@DustinI don't remember many people calling for Sloan to go. There
are always some people that are never happy and just want to complain but I
always got the feeling from Jazz fans that they very much appreciated Sloan and
understood that they had something really special with him. I respectfully
disagree with your assessment of Corbin, I could roll down my car window and
spit and hit someone that would be a better coach than Corbin.I did watch
the game and I will say that our guard play was most likely the reason that the
game was lost but the fact that Corbin refused to play the guy who was having a
career night and plays superior defense as opposed to the person who is coming
off of an injury and plays questionable defense is the reason so many are
questioning his ability to coach, by the way the discussion should be why he
benched Favors instead of Millsap not instead of Kanter, Kanter most definitely
should have been in. And keep in mind that it's not just this game; this
has been a recurring pattern over the entire season.
@ DustinDid you just call Corbin a good coach????Really????He's a mediocre coach with a few incredibly
talented young players. Don't kid yourself into thinking that Corbin is
more than an 'ok' coach.@ coryjcSpit and find
a better coach...hahahaha!!! That's funny.
@Dustini for one...never wanted Sloan to leave...and i for
one...know..that there are a lot better coaches out there than corbin...Nate
Mcmillan...Jeff Van Gundy...current Indiana Pacers assistant coach Brian
Shaw...i would say Alvin Gentry is better than Corbin...Stan Van Gundy...would
they want to coach here? i dont know...but offering Brian Shaw a coaching
job...would be a start...since he wanted a coaching job since Phil left the
lakers...also...having Favors inside...doesnt necessarily means...he would
score...its for Defensive purposes...not making the other team have an easy
shot...corbin could have plugged all three in...then subbed one out...then
subbed one in...17 mins...is like a quarter and a half...that's a lot of
minutes to spread around...if you know how to coach those 17 mins if you made
the right substitions...and have key players 1 min or 2 rests...you could have
won the game..
@plyxplyi have to agree with you on Favors re-signing...when
off-season comes...and the Jazz sign both Big Al and Paul...this clearly means
that...they are not committed to the young guys that we currently
have...thus...implanting doubts on their heads...wondering if this team really
needs me mentality...they'll be offered a ton of money that the jazz can no
longer match...and what could have been a bright future...will be clouded by the
mediocrity of Corbin and Big Al Jefferson...the two combined...wont bring you a
championship...and getting an 8th seed would be a crowning achievement for the
season...i just hope our GM has the guts to not re-sign Al Jefferson
I distinctly remember defending Sloan in the same way I am defending Corbin now.
People all over this site, and elsewhere were talking about what a mediocre
coach he was. Am I putting the two on the same level? Of course not. But
Corbin is a good coach with a lot of hard decisions to make. Still none of you
can come up with a reason why Favors scored almost nothing in the 2nd and 3rd
quarters, and to tell me that his defense is what should have kept him out there
makes no sense either. The Bucks had just run up a 10-point lead....Favors was
not helping. Also, how in the world is a team supposed to get into a
rhythm when they are subbing every 2 minutes? I don't know a coach in the
NBA who does that. You are all on this bandwagon of wanting to fire Corbin but
you have no facts to support yourself. We have no all-stars, no scoring champs,
no all-defensive players, but Corbin figures out a way to make them a playoff
team...in the West nonetheless. Are you expecting a championship out of this
