Good luck Coach. We look forward to your success.Go Cougars!
What? I thought Hill WAS cleared to play. Most of Spring Practice is non contact
anyway. He should be getting the first-team reps. He HAS earned it. So now he is
starting Spring Practice as the 3rd string (or lower) QB, getting the fewest
reps, because of a huge coaching error last fall? Wow!I am not
saying he shouldn't have to compete for the job. But it should be his to
lose and he should get first team reps except in the few instances where there
is full contact on the QB, which are very rare, even in live scrimmage.I don't know, maybe I am making a mountain out of a mole hill.......
I thought Hill was ahead of schedule and would be cleared to play Spring ball.
This is very dissappointing news. But if he's not ready to
play, it's the right decision to hold him out. Who knows what last season
might have been like in Nelson had been held out against Utah, Boise St and San
I'm beginning to think that the musical coaches thing is going to backfire
on the Cougars. How do we go from two former starters and BYU stars (Doman and
Hall) to a former backup (Beck) and expect to improve the offense? The comments Beck made about Hill seem to prove that the ship is not yet
righted in Provo.
SLS:One of the well-recognized offensive gurus in college football
is Mike Leach, who didn't play college football. Unfortunately, Doman's performance as a coach demonstrated that being a
starter doesn't guarantee success as a coach.
Coach Beck did say Hill would be able to participate in 7 on 7 just not 11 on11.
So he'll still get to go through the repetitions that he needs.
While watching Hill last year, I wasn't that impressed with him. I think
that a lot to due with that is because of the plays being called by Doman. I
want to see him able to air out the ball with an offensive line that can block
people and not have to run for your life. I'm excited to see what happens
this coming season, but I'm with coach Beck on this and say he should be
given limited time this spring. Once the fall sessions get underway, then
it's full steam ahead. I just don't want something to happen this
spring that may affect the way the team is set to show what they should be able
to accomplish with "all" cylinders hitting.
Hill doesn't need the reps in spring to be prepared for the fall due to his
superior athletic ability and the quality of the BYU coaching staff.
