Interesting. I could never be a been-counter. Kudos to those that can.
I was pretty impressed until I saw this is just from a survey of accounting
faculty. So this means pretty much nothing.
We are blessed to have so many good educational opportunities in this state.
With all the Multi Level Marketing outfits in Utah I would imagine there is a
great need for competent accountants to keep track of these company's
I'm in the program at BYU and couldn't be happier with my decision.
Some of the above comments are ridiculous. Haters gonna hate.
I guess the PAC 10+2 had to settle for a second tier school after all. Utah only
27th. Wow, based on their fans I thought they were number one in everything.
I agree with you, toosmartforyou, I could never be a bean-counter either. I
especially like Auditors though, It gives me great joy after they review our
departments operation, check our financial controls and leave disappointed. It
takes a special person to be an auditor. I'm thinking of the character
Inspector Javert from Les Mis. Auditors are neccessary in the business world.
toosmartforyou:"I could never be a been-counter."That would be "bean" counter; not "been" counter. Not sure
who you think you're "toosmart" for.CougarBlue:"I guess the PAC 10+2 had to settle for a second tier school after

wasn't the only major offered at either the U or the Y. Utah's
programs rank higher in the STEM fields.Looks like the sting of
mid-majoreyness hadn't worn off on YOU either. Haha!
And somehow it all comes back to the PAC 12. Three great schools in the state
and yet we go back to the tired and predictable PAC 12 who got in/who
didn't get in argument. Go away trolls.
@NavalLintLooks like U are looking up at BYU again.USNWR
rankings for Natioanl UniversitiesBYU #68Utah #127...tied
with two others.
Good grief, can we have *one* thread comparing schools *without* adults
devolving into yet another predictable rivalry back-and-forth?
@NavalVet Maybe in some, but not in all. I know Information Systems at BYU is
ranked #8 in the country. So do some research before you throw out blanket
What nonsense from some of these posters. BYU's accounting program is
really good. Good for them. The U and USU have great programs, too. Good for
them. Yay for everyone.
This isn't very newsworthy. BYU's accounting program has been ranked
in the top 10 in lots of national rankings for many years. Maybe this was
noticed because it mentions the U and USU.
This is pretty good news for the U and USU. With basically an open enrollment
policy and an average ACT of 21 among their students, they might even be making
more hay than BYU with their high end students.
As a businessman, I once asked our accountants how our financials looked. They
answered my question with the question: "How do you want them to look?"
I then knew everything I needed to know about accountants.
Disappointingly, there appear to be many commenters that learned nothing from
the recent bankruptcies and scandals that have rocked our economy (Enron, Bernie
Madoff, etc.). The need for highly trained, ethical financial professional has
never been greater. Just consider the tax code changes coming our way, as
Congress seeks to reduce deficits!Furthermore, do a quick Google
search to find jobs with top growth rates. Accounting is consistently in the top
3. So mock if you will, but I doubt that smart students who want jobs will be
laughing at your myopic views.
Good catch, Naval Vet, that I misspelled "bean." Sometimes I try and
send out something and the old fingers just don't follow the brain too
well, you know, like when the QB throws a pass to a wide-open receiver but the
ball goes somewhere else other than the intended target.I'm
really not very smart, admitedly, but I am not going to call myself "dumber
than rocks" and I don't bother to lower myself to make fun of others
screen names. It is just too easy to reach down to the lowest common
denominator to do that; I'll leave that practice to others....But thanks for writing. Now, go count your "beans" in PAC 12 Football
victories---that should be easy and take little time because you seem to have so
