If there's something in your house that you don't remember it's
there, then why have it in your house at all? It's not like you'd go
use it, even if you needed it, because you don't remember you have it. I
always say, It's best to take a look at your closets every year and dump
anything you haven't used that year.

People keep buying things because they forgot (or can't find) something
they already have.I have a lot of extra weed trimmer cord because I
couldn't find the huge pack that I was sure I had bought. Just found
that pack the other day. Unfortunately, I no longer have the same weed trimmer.

Great article. I am in the business of helping seniors to downsize and I am
always amazed by the different attitudes that people have about their stuff.
What is definitely true is that everyone who comes to work with me in my
business ends up going home to declutter their own closets, cupboards, basements
etc. They find it to be so liberating not to be over encumbered with stuff.
