Chris B, I don't get it... Why do you hate BYU so much? I see you post on other articles and it seems like we basically agree on those things. Why the hatred?

Chris B, you must really have a sad life or a miserable existence to continue to take shots at BYU with every posting you make with nothing else going on in your life. This article has nothing to do with the current team. BYU really had had an amazing recruiting year whether Jabari Parker came or not. Emery, Mika and Haws a year later are the real deal in addition to the young men mentioned here.If BYU can some how land Toolson with this group it will only enhance the team.It appears that BYU will be set in a few years. This group of 6 has the possibility to do something special. Please don't say that they haven't faced anyone, LP has played the best the country has to offer, playing in MA, WI, FL, SC and IL and has done very , very well losing only twice. This group can compete with anyone....

Chrissy, it's hard to believe U would jump on this thread. The Utes are worse now than they were under Boylen. The only foundation to build on is Loveridge, with no notables in the pipeline. Utah will be sub .500 for the foreseeable future. But don't worry, as long as U continue to schedule Willamette and College of Idaho (I don't need to make up names like U did), U should get a couple of wins. Just don't schedule a game against Lone Peak, because we know who would win that game.

I recognize BYU has their weakest team in almost a decade, but it was still good enough to beat the Utes. And U know the future look bright for the Cougs. BYU's pipeline is stacked. Three, four and five years from now, has Sweet Sixteen written all over it with Mika, Emery, Haws, Calvert, Hartsock, Worthington, Shaw, Chatman and Nielsen. I'd love to have picked up Jabari, but honestly there's a couple of players we have that I'd rather have on my team than Jabari.

Please, please, please tell me who will be playing for the Utes in 2016?

Once again you've misread the tea leaves. They're pumped because they're all winners and they're excited to be part of a winning program.

Unlike that train wreck on the hill that will finish with their FIFTH straight losing season in 2013. The Utes would be 0-4 against SF and SD CC's. Better stick to playing junior high school teams like Willamette.

Well, Christopher, yes, they do actually appear to be pumped. I don't know about all of them, but some of these guys had plenty of options. Knowing what they know about the Y (especially when their older brothers played), they still chose to some. Hard to fathom, right? Don't strain precious brain cells trying to figure it out.

Must be frustrating for opposing BYU fans to see next years recruits having TREMENDOUS success and is a top 25 recruiting class next year for a team that always consistently plays in and WINS in the NCAA tournament....a feat most schools can only dream of (including all those in Utah).

    Feb. 12, 2013 12:40 p.m.

LP Supporter, I agree with everything you said, with a single exception: Lone Peak has only lost once this season, not twice (unless you are referring to last year's loss.)

With these guys and the Lone Peak guys, we have a legitimate shot at a National Championship.

MIldred continues to be full of sarcasm. Pity the poor sould.

"The first task of a leader is to define reality." Max DePree, Leadership is an Art, p. 11.

BYU should be improved in three years. Until then . . . .well, a lot of Cougars will be disappointed.

Mildred - I know you try to be sarcastic with your comments, but this time you speak the truth. To win a NC takes a few lucky breaks, but this team is a legit Sweet Sixteen and with a lucky break or two, who knows???

It's actually no differen't than the contiuous hate towards Utah from Rockwell, CougfaninTX, IRS Guy, Duck Hunter, etc. Reference any Utah article. I don't get it either? Nice recruiting class though. You never know how recruits are going to turn out; but I'd sure rather have a good class, than a poor class. Side note: the Lone Peak team is amazing; best HS team from Utah since the inception of the 3 point line; probably best ever. IMO

I've come to the conclusion that ChrisB doesn't actually exist.

DeseretNews creates his posts to generate more interest. More posts from other users and interest in the story.

Even if he were constantly checking DesNews, there is no way he could be the first poster on every single article. Odds are someone would beat him out.

It is a marketing strategy by the DeseretNews.

I was expecting to hear about a couple other BYU recruits as well ... didn't they sign Jeff Chatmans son as well as another BYU legacy kid? Maybe Nixon's kid? We all know about the other legacy kids of course ... Emery and Haws.
Anyway, bottom line is with all those I mentioned above plus the three mentioned in the article and Mika ... well ... the cougs are looking pretty stacked for a while to come.
Imagine if they add the Chapman kid and Toolson kid. Scary.
My only question has to do with what kids are playing when (due to missions, etc).
Regardless, from a die hard Ute, congrats to all Cougar basketball fans ... enjoy the ride.

Right on. I am a diehard Cougar fan, and I get so sick of people on either side making stupid cheap shots at the other team. Are they so insecure that they have to put down others to make themselves feel good?

I feel bad that both teams are struggling right now, but kudo's to the Cougs for all their success. So they go to the NIT--there are alot of teams that would die to make the NIT.

Re: Vikings Dad, I meant that they have lost twice to out of state teams the past two years, you are correct it that supposition. LP lost last year in the finals in the Beachball Classic to Milton Ga and then this year to Monteverde in Fl, I also did not intend to slight any other early signees such as Nixon from Orem. I was focused more on this year's recruits. Nixon will be a great addition with his style of play and his ability to get up and down the floor. BYU has built a solid progam. Coach Rose has develpoed a great style for players to want and to come to play. I believe that in the future you will hear a great deal from these next two classes of recruits.

    @ Rationalplease

Thanks Man! Both teams are certainly struggling. BYU needs to win out, or go to the WCC championship to have a chance at a NCAA berth. An NIT berth isn't the worst thing in the world, at least it's post season.

@ Duck Hunter (aka Chis B, BYU version)

Do you actually ever comment on the subject line, or merely come on here to pick a fight and be-little others? It appears tha latter of the two suits you to a Tee!

First, everyone is giving this Chris B. character too much credit. If everyone starts ignoring his anti-BYU/anti-Mormon comments, he'll eventually go away. Second, I'm glad Cougar basketball's future recruits look promising because this season is too painful to watch. I haven't disliked watching Cougar basketball since Roger Reid's day when he ran this slow tempo half court style of play. It was so painful to watch, even when they were winning.

"...that always consistently plays in and WINS in the NCAA tournament....a feat most schools can only dream of (including all those in Utah)."

Either a short memory or a very young fan. Guess who has the record for the most number of NCAA appearances with never having played in the final four (Y). Guess who's winning percentage in NCAA appearances is in the 30%s (Y). Historically the Y and the U's basketball success are rather similar (not necessarily at the same time). The major difference between the two is post season play. Utah's overall winning percentage is in the 50% - which is remarkable when you remember that 50% of the tournament teams have a 0-1 record; 25% of the teams have a 50% record; and only 25% of the teams have better than a 50% record (this is for any one year's tournament). So to have a history of over 50% means you have averaraged being in the top 25% teams!.

From another Utah fan, congrats to BYU on their incoming recruits. Credit where it's due- that group should be fun to watch.

As far as the Chris B / Duckhunter comments, I'll let everyone in on a secret. They are the same person. He sits in a padded cell and rocks back and forth as he types.

You never really know how good a team will be just from recruiting, the future does look bright with all these future Cougars.

So glad to hear that Jakob Hartsock is having a strong high school senior year. Good for him. If I recall correctly, the kid already has his mission call? He'll be a strong contributor to the Cougs .... in 3 years.
