It would be a tragedy to see federal workers get a cut in pay, if that happens I
hop Rep. Bishop gets one too.
But that is why we re-elected Hatch! He promised things like this would not
happen! Are Bishop and Hatch actually less powerful than they led us
to believe? Did they make campaign promises that they could not keep?
One way or another defense will certainly take a big hit with the needed budget
cuts but unless there are also major cuts to Social Security and
Medicare/Medicaid and other across the board cuts it will not work. The
spending has to be brought under control. I am right at the end of
the baby boom so I stand to loose tremendously if needed cuts to Social Security
and Medicare happen. Please make those cuts now rather than delay further and
risk much greater problems.
More pathetic political scare tactics from Bishop.Too bad he and his
friends won't sit down and participate in a sensible discussion seeking
realistic and workable solutions.
Isn't it interesting. Everyone wants cuts somewhere else. If we are
serious about getting spending under control defense must be part of it, and
Hill would certainly be a likely place for such cuts to take place.
The US military makes up over HALF of the US budget. Spending more than x8 the
money, of any other developed country, in the world. If I was going
to focus on budget cuts, this is the most logical place to begin.
Now, when FACING budget cuts we should not 'hurt the veterans'. If this is the logical conclusion of conservative rhetoric, and it goes
against the concept of supporting the troops... why would I support
Guess what Rob, all federal employees are facing the same 20% pay cut if the
sequester takes place. That means families all over the country will face the
same problems. Oh, but I forgot, Hill Air Force Base is in your
district. I guess these problems are more important when they actually effect
the voters who will hold you personally accountable.
Before cutting the pay of people who actually do something productive, cut
congressional pay. First tho - cut ALL retirement pay for any elected official.
They paid to get the job. If they want retirement pay and benefits they can go
back to real life and get a real job.
To "Pagan" that is a lie. The military is 20% of the budget. You have
Social Security taking up 20% of the budget, Medicare/Medicaid/CHIP taking up
21%, and another 13% taken up with other social welfare programs. If
you bothered to look at the whole budget, and not just the discretionary
spending, most of our money goes to social welfare and not the military.
