Parker almost lost the game for them, with his team up by 3 with under 20
seconds in the game he gets a steal, but misses a slam dunk. The rebound goes
to WY.... What Parker should have done was either lay it in or better yet
drive to the bucket and pull it out to use up the clock. HS kids and some
coaches just don't get it, a score puts the ball in your opponents
hands.Keep it up LP
Ranking HS teams. What a waste if effort.
This may be the best story in sports in the state of Utah this year (except for
maybe USU football).
Finley Prep out of Vegas is ranked #1 in another poll and also beat the same
team (Montverde Academy) that beat Lone Peak. Depends on what rankings you
follow. Don't get too excited Lone Peak...
"Don't get too excited Lone Peak..." C'mon Debbie Downer, you
can't hide behind a new name.
Best team in state history. No team in Utah will come within 20 of them the
rest of the season. Been fun to watch... Go Cougs!
Best thing about this team is that they're boys are home grown. Can't
say that about the team a little further south (4A).
Findley Prep is just that, a prep school. A school that takes high school
seniors and gives them a chance to play and get their grades to a point that
they can get the scholarship at a big school. They aren't even allowed to
compete in the High School divisions in Nevada. It is like a red shirt, and yet
they still get to play, they don't lose college eligibility. Good for Lone
Peak and good luck for the rest of the year.
Regardless of whether LP is #1 or #5 or #whatever, they are a very good team.
High school basketball is just like college football - nobody really knows who
is #1. But what we do know is that at least three of them are
future Cougs. That has me down right excited. Yes, I do wish Jabari
was coming to BYU, but unlike Sports Illustrated, I'm not willing to crown
him as the next Lebron. I didn't ever see him play before his injury, but
seeing him play now against WY, I'm not sure I'd take him over any of
the three LP standouts. Jabari does not look like a one and done to me. He
looks like he needs several years to get his skills to NBA level. But
there's nobody better to develop his skills than Coach K. I look forward
to watching him develop.
WOW! A Utah team is ranked #1 in the entire nation?AWESOME!Nice job, guys!
I find it interesting that some fans are critical of BYU bringing in too many
players from the local "valley". When you see the talent that has come
out of Utah Valley in the past, including CJ Wilcox who is at Washington, and
see that Lone Peak is in the top 5 in the country, BYU could do worse. I'm
sure there are many top tier schools out of state who would like to have the
Lone Peak players come to their program.
