WHAT?The government offers tax incentives? To ordinary
people?I thought the only people who could get those were
corporation type people. This has to be some sort of liberal
socialist communist plot to destroy America.
I am always frustrated with this type of article. It does not provide adequate
information to be meaningful. The author has essentially stated "some people
think it makes financial sense to place solar panels on their homes. You can
decide if you want to do that." A hypothetical example would be more useful
for this reader. A more useful example follows:A hypothetical
2,500sq ft house in Utah uses $______ in electricity per year. If the house is
facing south, a _ kilowatt system can be installed at a pre-rebate cost of
$______. That system will produce $______ of electricity per year. Federal
rebates total $______, and the local utility will pay $_______. The $_______
final cost will be paid off in ___ years. Your pay off may vary.A
scenario such as that provides readers a tangible synopsis of the current solar
market. Now that a meaningful algorithim has been established, will
someone with industry knowledge fill in the blanks and help determine if
purchasing a solar system is a reasonable decision for us?
One thing about the RMP rebate. It is mandatory to have their monitoring devices
installed to your system. Those ones that are "supposed" to help with
efficiency by turning your AC on and off.
