Wow! Now let's increase funding so all students have access to a computer.
We're helping students prepare for the future.
I don't think the funding is that necessary to begin implementing blended
learning into schools. I think ideas like BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) and using
the students current available technologies would do.
vcarswel,Students come from poor families, and can't afford
their own computers, lunches, pencils, paper, etc. Teachers also need more
money to be effective. Must increase funding.Reminds me of Michael
Jackson. He had a worth of 350 million dollars, then had a debt of 500 million
when he passed away. Our country keeps inventing ways to spend, and we're
now sixteen trillion in the hole. When ever education comes up with
some new research based idea, extra funding is needed. Test scores become an
excuse to do it. I call this the "cycle of needless spending", and it
keeps repeating itself.
This week I have been using a mobile computer cart to give all my students
access to a computer for an hour a day. We are researching data on the solar
system. My students are highly engaged, and loving it. I will then have them
take all the information they gather to do a project with several components. I
am loving it. Wish I could have a computer for every students all the time!
But please don't consider replacing me with a computer. Teacher plus
computer=great learning opportunity.
