Wow. Good accomplishment for BYU, but has VT ever heard of game film? Haws is
one of the best scorers in the country when you let him do what he wants, but
the team is much more beatable with pressure on him and an early double team on
Congratulations to Tyler Haws! Great game. We've missed you. Glad your game
is on. This is a great win and confidence booster before the conference play in
the WCC.Go Cougars!
Great D cougs and southern cal is feeling you to win many conference games with
team ball. Prepare well and we"ll rise and shout often this new year. Thanks
for playing great on national TV for your fans and future recruits.
The awesome thing about Sharps dunk is that he was running back to get on D!
Haws and other teamates had to turn him around to shoot his free throw.
Wow, What a difference between the last game. Shot selection went
from a grade C to a A-. I have been watching these games this year, and this
was the best performance of the year with shot selection. There were a few 3
pointers put up by cold shooters, bad choice. Carlino over penetrated a few
times, but mixed in some jump shots(great). I am very impressed with Nate
Austin's choice of shots. Haws is flawless(almost). So is Brandon.
Zylstra needs help(coaching).A few too many offensive rebounds
allowed, but not bad. Grade B on that. A few too many turnovers,
but not bad. Grade B on that. Defense, as always very good. My congratulations to Dave Rose, all the coaches and the team on a game
well played. If BYU can perform like this, they can beat
anybody. I have hope for the Tourney after watching this.
Great win over a nationally recognizable team. Can't ask for a much better
game prior to entering conference play. Perhaps this years team can make the
Big Dance. Impressive that Haws scored 13 points in the second half, even with
VT's defense focused on shutting him down.
Awesome game Cougs, and kudos to that Haws kid! He was simply magnificent to
watch! It's the kind of win that makes my heart jolly happy before heading
out to church this morning. And heck, it's exactly the kind of national
exposure we need, crave, and want, and boy does it feel good! I love it. Now
let's hope the momentum carries on toward conference play starting next
week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they'll show up well against the
top dogs of the WCC, especially the conference perennial alpha dog, Gonzaga. I
can't wait!Go Cougs!!!
re: StGtoSLC - That's brilliant. U should consider coaching for a career.
I'm sure VT's coach never even thought to look at film. You may want
to call LMU's coach also and share your idea with him. You may be on to
something that could totally revolutionnize the game.Haws was
spectacular. He is learning to do more without the ball to get open shots. Can
you imagine how effective he will be next year with Kyle Collinworth back from
his mission, to take some of the defensive pressure off him. By the time his
career is over, Tyler will challenge Jimmer for most points scored by a Cougar.
Wow, a 42 point game as a sophomore! Can't wait for more Tyler Haws in the
coming years! Jabari Who??
Hawes really took over for Hartsock. Now we just need one more guy to step up
and BYU will be as good as they were last year, or maybe even better.
The freshman from Colorado is pretty smooth, especially for his age. He will be
a good one. Great to see Sharp make the monster dunk - maybe this will ignite
him to be even more aggressive. Carlino had a good game for a nice change. Some
of the subs got some quality playing time. Zylstra needs to step it up now.BYU should be ready now for conference play. Will be there on Saturday
v. USF. Go Cougars!!!
CFIT, way to take a sarcastic remark completely serious. My point was, teams
like Iowa State and Utah have shown that BYU's offense is not that potent
when Haws and Davies are taken off their game. Why other teams would not even
try to attempt to do the same is beyond me.
