I think the SL media is absolutely elated and besides themselves that Gary is
leaving. I know it pains them so to see USU doing so well in Football, and it
pains them more that a great coach would stay in… Logan? Out of all
places! After all, it’s not like Logan is *ahhhhh* Salt Lake City, or the
southern Vatican City of Provo!!!! No, the media is elated about
this news. They knew it was going to happen. Why would a good coach want to
stay at… phsss USU or in Logan? No way, never! Giddy, everyone in the
media is giddy this is happening. No reason to explain why we’re giving
all of our coverage to the other two schools because USU is doing so well, no we
want that to go right away so we can continue to talk ad nauseum about how great
BYU is, even if they are just 6-6, and how wonderful Utah is because… did
you know they were in the PAC 12!!! I mean no one can compete with the PAC 12!
Once aain don't give the bleeding heart statement that I look in there eyes
and know I need to stay. Be vague about it at best because no one thinks your
sincere about your players with the outcome. It looks all about the money.
Poor timing coach!
@SVfan - we've all at one point or another told people we love our jobs and
yet have later ended up leaving. Imagine if someone offered you 3x more money
just to move somewhere and do the same thing, you'd be deemed an idiot for
not taking it, no matter how much you loved your current job. Be real people!
@SVfan,It is about the money. Why would it be about anything else?
Besides the fact that he'll have better talent to work with where he's
going. No pompus aggie fan's anymore. This is great.
Cmon we all new it was a matter of time for him to leave. I'm surprised
though I thought he'd gone to a Pac12 school with some openings in that
conference. But the fact is Logan is a great community and Utah State is a great
school, but the fact that they just had there best season ever and they
couldn't even fill the stadium for the most part, that doesn't give a
coach much comfort either. Now he'll be coaching in front of 80+ people
every weekend and a lot more money. Not surprised at all that he left, never did
think he was a committed Aggie at heart. And Park City Aggie, your letting your
emotions get the best of you, it seemed to me that the media liked finally
talking about Utah State, seemed like they were very happy with there success.
The fact is they talk about things that people want to listen to and BYU &
Utah have more of a following so more people want to hear about them. You would
do the same thing if you owned a radio or TV station.
Family comes first.... I wouldn't want to live in Wisconsin but I'd
go and suffer through Scott Walker for what Anderson is going to make. Anderson would have been a fool to turn this offer down.
It is what it is, but I think he threw the Aggies under the bus. It is ironic
he is going to Wisconsin whose head football coach also just threw the Badgers
under the bus for Arkansas.
My sympathies to the Aggie fans, not a good day in Logan I'm sure.Great season for you, sorry to see Coach Anderson leave. I bet the
Utes are devastated to see their replacement coach leave abandon the state as
Wisconsin just lost their coach who won't finish the season at the Rose
Bowl. He took much of the staff after Wisconsin had lost many of the assistant
coaches last year. How many athletes would leave if the were given a
scholarship to play at a bigger and better program? Athletics is about competing
to be the best thus it is natural that coaches and players move up to better
jobs, programs. At Wisconsin we say it is the program, next man up!
Gary wants to be the next man up, what made him great at Utah State is why he is
moving on, thats the way it is.
what a great opportunity for Andersen. Wisconsin is one of the top programs in
the country and a classic Big 10 school. Hope he does well.
People who stay at the same job their whole lives tend to be underpaid and
underappreciated. Any among us who would refuse to leave their company for
triple the salary are qualified to criticize Coach Andersen. I wonder whether
Doug Robinson would leave the Deseret News for a $300,000 editing job at the New
Stang 08 if you knew your history we have never had a lot of reasons to be to
pompus. But trying to explain ethics to your teenager must be something you
have ever done. But if you do I can see where your heart is, its all about the
money. Thats coaching nowdays. Say one thing one week and do another next
week. We'll move on and compete without him. And read Doug Robinsons
arcticle you may be enlightened, my guess is probably not.
