Pssst, good thing Chris B won't read the article through all the way to the
Yeah, SDSU thinks they could win in the PAC. Utah had that dream, but it got
shattered, big time!
Let's be clear, the Aztecs would have the opportunity to see how well they
would fare in the Pac12, long before the Cougars ever would. It's great to ramble on about how well your team would do in the Pac12
while playing in the MWC, but it is entirely a different "ballgame" when
the schedule is laid out and you must prove it on the field. When
Wyoming, NMSU, Idaho, Idaho State, Colorado State, Air Force and UNLV
aren't on your schedule, the task becomes much more difficult, week in,
TheNunWhen Colorado, Washington State, and Northern Colorado are on
your schedule and you still can't qualify for a bowl game, the task becomes
Like I said, it's much easier to "talk the talk", but it's
entirely another matter when you must "walk the walk".Every
conference has teams that are top-tier, middle-level, and those at the bottom,
but the cumulative effect of playing a BCS conference schedule each year means
talent levels and depth of talent must be vastly improved over those teams
playing in lesser conferences. Two years in, the Utes haven't
reached the level needed. That is no secret. They are striving to get there, but
the difference is, they at least, have the chance to find out on the field,
while others are only fantasizing about how well they would do.If
that upsets some people, I guess we can refer to Jack Nicholson's movie
line: "you can't handle the truth."
Too bad BYU will never see the PAC12 even though they deserve an invite. To
mention SDSU to the PAC12 before BYU is probably true but sooo absurd not to
mention Utah who BYU has dominated for decades. Jealous? Probably, but only
because BYU is so much more deserving.
dww722, BYU has dominated Utah for decades? That's funny and delusional.
Go look at the last decade and overall, not even close. All I can say is
Yep. Utah can't ever beat good teams.
"Every conference has teams that are top-tier, middle-level, and those at
the bottom,..."That's why the PAC 10.2 added Colorado and
Utah, to give WSU some company at the bottom. Two years in and the
Utes are right where non-crimson glasses wearing fans expected the Utes to
be.You're nothing but cannon-fodder for the big boys of the
conference, get used to it.
Are you little kids finished throwing rocks? Just enjoy the bowl game.

Of course it isn't a home game for SDSU to BYU "fan". BYU always
plays basketball games at ESA in Salt Lake and we hear how it is a "neutral
site game" so I'm sure BYU "fan" would feel the same way about
this game.It's a neutral site.
54-IQYou're just jealous that since BYU started playing games
in the ESA, BYU has had the highest attended games played in SLC every year.Looking forward to attending a bowl game in San Diego for the first time
since the National Championship season.
PAC12 would be in desperate times to add SDSU to the conference, the last thing
USC and UCLA want is another school on/near their home turf.Go
Cougars, I hope this game goes well. If BYU can run the ball then we'll
have a great shot at winning.
BlueCoug,Just curious, do you keep those BYU-Utah stats in a Word
doc on your computer so you can quickly copy and paste them each time you need
them? Or do you go back to Wikipedia each and every time?I always
get a good laugh at the person who goes back and selects a convenient range of
time to suit their purpose. But hey, if you wish to keep living in the 70's
and 80's I don't blame you. Despite the Ute football woes, I too
really enjoyed those years - good times.
BYU can will. But, will they win? I'll save my comments for after the
game. I don't expect much. I hope for a good game, win or lose. It ought
to be a fairly even match up.
dww722 - bluecougdominated for decades? You mean the 70s and 80s, right?
30-40 years ago. What’s the overall record? Utah has a 20 game lead. You know, blue coug, turning blue is a sign of oxygen deprivation, which
is not good for the mental faculties –there is NO national
champion, never has been, just a poll champion. And tell us how many other
teams were awarded their poll championship by beating a 6 win Michigan team in a
lower tier bowl game?
motorbikeThe "convenient range of time" BlueCoug picked is
simply the period when BYU started building it's football legacy.Unfortunately for U, the Utes have no football legacy to speak of, on a
national scale, so your ONLY response is to whine about "cutting and
pasting" statistics."Utah by 5" was once a popular
"battle cry" for the Utes; it's also the total number of Utah AP
Top 25 finishes.Regardless of how you spin it, that's
absolutely PATHETIC for a program that tries to bill itself as one of the
"big boys".BYU has almost as many AP Top 25 finishes in the
last 5 years (4), as Utah has during its ENTIRE football history (5).No wonder the Utes are replacing BYU, a team with SEVENTEEN AP Top 25
finishes, with FSU, a team that only has TWO AP Top 25 finishes. The Bulldogs
are much closer to Utah's level of ineptitude when it comes to national
motorbikeNo need to cut and paste, the numbers are easy to remember,
especially the years Utah finished in the Top 25, since there have been so few
of them.1964 - Coaches only1994 - first AP ranking2003-2004 - first back-to-back Top 25 rankings2008-2009-2010 - first
back-to-back-to-back rankings in one pollAs far as national awards
for Utah go, ZERO is also pretty easy to remember.Sorry to burst
your bubble, but there aren't any national awards associated with winning a
lost in DCClaiming there has never been a major college football
national champion is simply Utedom's way of coping with the fact that the
Utes have never even come close to winning the Crystal Football National
Championship trophy that ESPN displays every Gameday because it's the
singular prize EVERY major college football program covets.BYU
didn't win the 1984 National Championship by beating a 6-5 Michigan team in
the Holiday Bowl. BYU won the 1984 National Championship by winning
24 consecutive games, beating two Top 15 teams on the road, finishing in the Top
7 in both polls in back-to-back seasons, and convincing the majority of poll
voters that BYU was THE MOST DESERVING team to be selected the CONSENSUS Major
College Football National Champions for 1984.The buildup to
BYU's national championship included finishing in the Top 12 in five of six
seasons from 1979 to 1984, and having one of the most prolific offenses in the
country led by a string of Heisman Trophy finalists - Marc Wilson, Jim McMahon,
Steve Young, and Robbie Bosco.Utah's ENTIRE football history
pales in comparison to what BYU accomplished in those six seasons alone.
I remember when BYU used to have more fans at the SDSU games in San Diego. It
is a major accomplishment if they can get to 50-50 as Long suggests. However,
this is still a home game for the Aztecs because they play all their home games
on the same field.
I thought this article was about the Poinsettia Bowl. Instead it's a SMAK
down of Utah vs BYU. Why Ute posters denigrate BYU's history is beyond me.
Now Utah is in the PAC12, where it has been hammered to the bottom of the pack.
Maybe they'll break into the upper half someday.Realistically?
Utah has never even beaten my Dawgs. And UW has bought out their contract with
BYU after losing another series against them. UW is ducking BYU, WSU bought out
their home game against BYU and now Utah is ducking BYU. No wonder that PAC12
didn't want BYU. Half their schools are afraid to play them.
Long is a dork... He might be Utahs next coach!
Bronco is not annoncing that Riley will start possiblly to increase attendance.
I know I would not buy
@ Striker"Yeah, SDSU thinks they could win in the PAC. Utah had
that dream, but it got shattered, big time!"BYU had that dream
where they're invited to join the Pac-12, but that dream got shattered BIG
time when big brother Utah got the Pac-12's invitation and left BYU crying
in the corner by themselves (independence).
Since joining the PAC 12/becoming IndependentBYU - one Top 25
finish, two winning seasons, two bowl gamesUtah - unranked, one losing
season, one bowl gameThe only team I see crying in the corner by
themselves are the bottom dwelling Utes cast aside by the big boys of their
conference.Enjoy the couch potato bowl; it's the only bowl the
Utes are good enough to play in anymore.----------btw,
if the Utes had beaten the only WAC team they played this season, they'd be
bowling. Unfortunately for U, you weren't even good enough to do that.
