Another reason I cannot understand why this state is married to the GOP. Not
only break the law but violate the laws of his church and still believes he is
qualified to be mayor. The people of Brigham City should demand he be removed
instant,Sort of like the Democrats wanted Bill Clinton out of office?
Hemlock,Bill Clinton was never LDS, nor a Mayor of an LDS community,
nor a Republican.I'm sorry, what was your point?
@mstant;Hypocrisy isn't a reason to be thrown from office.
Sure, he's a hypocrite who can't keep his pants up even though he
swore to his wife and church he would, but that is no reason for him to lose his
job. He isn't in his job for his church or his wife, he was elected by the
citizens of his city. If they want him to step down they can vote him out in
the next election.
The last sentence of his letter comes off as a bit defensive: "Hey, my
conscience is clear. If you want to be judgmental, then that's YOUR
@southmtnman - Clinton's need to be removed from office wasn't that he
had an affair but that he perjured himself. Seems like Brigham's mayor
hasn't done that...
"....Clinton's need to be removed from office wasn't that he had
an affair but that he perjured himself...."____________________Clinton was never convicted of perjury. As a matter of fact, he was
never even charged with perjury. The only place perjury was cited in writing was
in the article of impeachment in order to meet the Constitutional criterion of
"high crimes and misdemeanors." What a preposterous and malicious use of
Congressional powers. The public saw right through it.
@Craig Clark.... and the funniest thing about the whole sorted "affair"
was the witch hunt was being led by - yes - a man who couldn't keep his
pants up either.... got to love Newt.@Ranch - generally I agree with
your statements.... but when one is in a position of trust... honesty and
fidelity to promises and vows made.... ones words as they used to call it..
does mean something. If a person not in a position of public trust did this,
I agree with you completely. Bad act, but not justification for loosing ones
job. But when you hold a position of public trust - oh say like the head of
the CIA - yes - your honestly and credibility has been compromised. And yes - Newt was wrong to pursue Clinton - but we also knew Clinton had an
issue which did rise to the level of where the people should question his
Wow, just goes to show no matter how strong you think you are, you need to be on
guard all the time. Brigham is still small enough where his political career
for all intents and purposes is over. Feel bad for the members of his ward as
this can shake up people. Good to know that judgement is ultimately the Lords.
I thought democrats are forgiving and accepting of those that make mistakes. For
example Bill Clinton, John Edwards, John Kennedy, Ted Kennedy etc. They have
even looked past barack allowing an ambassador to get murdered along with 3
other Americans and then covers it up.Democrats fully support
hollywood elites infidelity, drug use and even embrace those lifestyles. So when a man that did a similar thing, but, belongs to a different
party then that changes?Just shows the democrats are judgemental and
are not the sole provider of forgivenss, compassion and love and understanding
in this world.Does that mean I agree with what the mayor did? The
answer is No. But, I do feel the same for all politicians in this situation.
They should confess and ask forgiveness from their wives or husbands. If
religious, they need to work on that with their spiritual leader. They need to
work on their marriage. Apologize to the public if it is made public. Move on
with their life.I can forgive them. Bill Clinto and the Kennedys are
tougher ones. They kept cheating over and over and over again, but cry each time
The press shows very little restraint in providing front page headlines when a
well-known person's sexual indiscretions are discovered by a news reporter.
More substantive events make boring reading or TV viewing. But when illicit sex
is the story, ratings soar along with copies of the news stand daily. And it
seems that neither the press nor the public want to openly acknowledge the
element of voyeurism that drives these stories.
"They have even looked past barack allowing an ambassador to get murdered
along with 3 other Americans and then covers it up."Wow.... I
thought we had hit moral lows..... but this just really pushes the lower bar way
lower. What is being claimed here is that there was overt - not even passive -
willingness of this administration to allow a friend be killed. I also suppose
the Boy Scouts of America "allowed' those some 32k boys be molested.
Or that the Church leadership in Brigham City allowed this bishop in the news,
or the Seminary teach in Utah Valley do what they did. Are we also saying Bush
allowed Osama do what he did too? Politics is a dirty business....
but statements like this just show how low and base some people will let their
comments get. Hate Obama for what ever reason you justify to yourself for your
feelings.... but don't go below the person you are spending so much effort
hating. Becoming bitter and hateful doesn't make you better or the other
