No,Mitt did not come very close to winning the presidency...He was decisively
beaten by a better opponent but still the defeated bang on about Mitts
demise..Apparently some here do not even understand basic mathematics, much less
quantum physics..I really doubt that Obama is going to offer Romney anything in
the way of a public appointment as these men despise each other..I do think I
can surmise what is going to be served,Humble Pie..As the Klingons
say"Revenge is a dish best served Cold"..
That hasn't stopped speculation that the president could make a bipartisan
gesture by appointing Romney to be Commerce secretary, Treasury secretary, or
the first to fill a ‘business secretary’ post that Obama offhandedly
suggested late in the campaign-- ============ And like
another Ill. Sentor elected President, Abraham Lincoln selected a Democrat from
the South of all places to be his VP running mate his 2nd term in office to heal
the wounds and unify a torn nation... If Mitt Romney really and
truely IS the business magicman he campaigned on -- Seving his Country in any
capacity is the sign of a TRUE Patriot.Hate Radio aside...
Obama is no idiot. He understands that it is wise to keep your friends close,
and your enemies closer!Get Romney in your cabinet, and you can keep
an eye on him.We elected the right man for President!
I hope Barack isn't planning on having one of his kiss and make up beer
Watch out Mitt. Hopefully Liver and a nice bottle of Chianti is not on the
This move is simply a way the President is trying to keep one of the promises
made after being re-elected. This will be one of the few promises he keeps.
Four more years of recession and gloom. I want to find out how I can get on
federal welfare so I can at least feed my family with the free handouts that
half the country is relying on, and a free phone too.
Please tell us, Pack, where you can find bitterness pills so cheaply.
I hope they find common cause in solving our nation's problems. Our problems, like the rain falling on the just and the unjust, have burdened
people without regard to party affiliation. We can't suffer another four
years of inaction on these problems. Like Bush 41 and Clinton working together
on solving problems that affected people without regard to party affiliation
(building a strong friendship in the process), it would be a blessing to the
country for Obama and Romney to work together. Obama says he wants
to work openly and transparently (and it's about time to start doing that),
and Romney spent the campaign telling us how effectively he can work with
Democrats, so lets see them do it and bring their parties along with them. They
can each build a personal legacy of service to the nation. It might demonstrate
that rather than voting for hardline Democrats or Republicans, we should vote
for the best problem solvers who find solutions consistent with national values
rather than party-dictated platforms that none of us, whether Republican or
Democrat, can endorse completely.I don't like Hatch or Kennedy,
but they showed how to cross the aisle for solutions.
@79 utewhat a refreshingly mature post, thank you
Romney will propose to close the government and outsource it to China.
Open Minded Mormon,While I applaud the sentiment of your post, you
should know that Lincoln did not choose his VP running mate. It was not until
after FDR's death that the presidential nominee had any real say over who
the VP nominee was. And in the case of Andrew Johnson, he was chosen so as to
placate the border states who were still threatening to leave the Union...it was
a political move rather than one built on unity and reconciliation.
Why do people in Utah even care about this? Mitt is not from Utah. What is the
facination with Utahns and Romney?
If a position were extended to Romney, it would be a difficult position to
accept knowing that the direction the president is taking the country is the
wrong way for a strong America and a strong future. Romney would also
understand that any recommendations he would make would most likely be ignored
by the president, just like the bipartisan debt commission that Obama formed.
Recommendations were made but completely ignored.Unless Obama will
lead and rework entitlement spending, our nation will continue towards fiscal
The First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued the following statement Tuesday:We congratulate President Obama on winning a second term as President of
the United States. After a long campaign, this is now a time for
Americans to come together. It is a long tradition among Latter-day Saints to
pray for our national leaders in our personal prayers and in our congregations.
We invite Americans everywhere, whatever their political persuasion, to pray for
the President, for his administration and the new Congress as they lead us
through difficult and turbulent times. May our national leaders reflect the best
in wisdom and judgment as they fulfill the great trust afforded to them by the
American people. We also commend Governor Romney for engaging at the
highest level of our democratic process, which, by its nature, demands so much
of those who offer themselves for public service. We wish him and his family
every success in their future endeavors.
re:BebyebeToo late Bebyebe, China ALREADY owns us!! Barack sold us
out over the last 4 years!! That 6 trillion in debt Barack charged to our credit
card had to come from somewhere and that somewhere is China. Even your wonderful
GM is building its cars in China now!! Love to hear what Barack's union fat
cats think of that trend.
@Mark B. I think you can get those pills with the new Obama care.
Reagan started the debt, H Bush piled on, GW then generated trillion in unfunded
mandates including 8 Trillion for the life of Medicare part D and 2 unfinished
wars. You Republicans think war is free and wanted to get into Libya and Syria.
Very telling who the big spenders are. Why didn't you fiscal hawks speak
up during GW Bush?
Why are you Fiscal Hawks so concerned about spending and Love Mitt so much
excused his 2 Trillion for military spending without batting an eye? Why do you Fiscal Hawks not call for repeal of GW Bush's Medicare Part D
that will cost 8 trillion? Why do you Fiscal Hawks want to go into
Libya and Syria so badly and think war and our military work for free? Why do you fiscal Hawks blame Obama for the 700 billion bank bailout over
failed Bush policies? Why did I not hear you Fiscal Hawks complain
about GW Bush's 2 stimulus packages? Why did you Fiscal Hawks
not complain the dozens of times GW Bush raised the debt ceiling?Where were you Fiscal Hawks when GW Bush increased the size of the Federal
Government and solidfied Executive Power?Where were you Fiscal Hawks
for billions in unfunded mandates of homeland security, election reform, No
Child Left Behind? Now all of a sudden you care? Those trillion run
up by Reagan, Bush 1, Bush 2 were ok by you fiscal hawks?
Really, Pack? You want to live on a welfare salary? I say, quit your job and
have at it!
Maybe Obama wants to hear Romney's tax ideas. We'll just
have to wait and see. Obama is not a bad guy. Despite what the
haters say, he really has had the ideal of bridging the gap between the two
parties. People ought to watch the PBS program on Romney and Obama. As soon as
Obama was elected, Republicans were plotting his failure. The Republican Party,
sore losers, is just full of nasty, mean people.
It's called bringing in a man to fix the economy, cause the dude in there
can't.Simple math here folks.
The best man lost. The country lost. It will be interesting to see what BHO has
up his sleeve. Whatever he does, it is in HIS best interest. Be careful, Mitt.
I hope all you unpatriotic people who say you will quit your jobs and divorce
your spouses so you can live on welfare go on an do it. Live the dream
lifestyle, scar your children, teach them that complaining and sitting on your
rear end is the answer. Better yet, move to Canada or Australia (notice you
never say a country that isn't majority caucasian) and feel the full
effects of everyone being insured by healthcare. That way the rest of
us grown ups can move the country forward, provide string defense of this
country while taking care of the poor and sick without a lousy attitude about
it.The Constitution itself was formed from a COMPROMISE, it is what
adults do. That is how this inspired document was written to govern man, not a
Timothy - Obama's victory at less than 51% of the total vote was no
mandate so why do you continue to gloat? JJJHS:Are you
defending Obama's bad behavior by pointing to other bad behavior?? What is
your prediction on the Federal Debt four years from now? No matter what it is,
you will still be blaming Bush, won't you.
to patriotCedar Hills, UTDo you really know what's the
porcentage owning to China, I don't think so! less than 3% similar to
Japan, but nobody speaks about Japan! Stop listening extreme political media.
I sure hope Mitt's going to stand on principle and pay for his own lunch.
You wouldn't want him to be taking some of that free stuff from the
President, would you?
......"Why do people in Utah even care about this? Mitt is not from Utah.
What is the facination with Utahns and Romney?".....Well....Draper
Man....you live in Utah....If you're Mormon...we generally do what the
Mormon's do.... we favor our brothers, of similar thought...if from Utah or
Hey, Pack. I voted for Obama and I do not have a free phone. Nor did I ever
want to have a free phone, free food, free handouts, etc. Not
everyone who voted for Obama wanted a handout. Some of us simply thought he
should continue to do the job he started 4 years ago.I think
it's time to abandon the "free handout" argument as to why Romney
lost. Time to move on.
MWilliams,Speak for yourself. I'm a Utah Mormon and I
don't favor other Mormons simply because we go to the same church.
That's a fast track to tyranny if I ever heard one... or becoming another

@ ImaUteFan, I hope this time around he actually gets started doing something.

don't consider party, religion, etc., when deciding for whom I will vote.
That's why nothing could have convinced me to vote for Romney.
He was, by far, NOT the best man in the race (that as Huntsman, who didn't
even make it through the early primaries because he was moderate and rational)
and the country and its citizens would not have been well served by having
Romney in the White House (unless they were mega-worthy, of course). Romney was
a defective, deficient, dishonest, mendacious candidate. I ended up
writing in Huntsman, because the two man candidate were not what I wanted (Obama
was bad and Romney was even worse). I hope Huntsman runs in 2016 -- the country
needs him, even if the far right fringe-dwelling Republicans don't
recognize the fact.
