Given our QB's lack of accuracy, it is truly amazing that Hoffman could
catch 13 balls. He's good.
Hoffman is one of the five best WRs to ever play at BYU. Without him,
Nelson's numbers would be even worse. If Heaps had used him as his go to
guy, he would still be playing at BYU. If Beck or Hall were throwing to
Hoffman, his numbers would be off the charts.
Many of of us trust that Hoffman will be resting his injured shoulder until the
CougFaninTXNormally I don't like to tolerate any negative
comments about the members of the team...... but your comments are
spot on. The one thing I hope Hoff can do, in addition to everything else we
ask of him, is to rub off on Apo. Can you imagine Hill having both Hoff and
Hoff junior on the field at the same time. Man, give us a TE from the old
school (not so old) and that would be a qb's dream.
If we had a quarterback we could be 10-1 and Hoffman and Apollo would be all
Americans. Won't Apo be happy to see Riley go!
Cody is a ray of sunshine in a gloomy offense.
Those who think things would have been all rosey with a different QB (Heaps,
Hill, Lark, Mangum, whoever) with our current coaches (Bronco & Brandon),
are definitely living in a dream world. Always fun to dream though.
As a BYU fan, may I observe that it is really hard for a coach to succeed at
BYU. The coach is expected to recruit good players who stay within the honor
code, be a fireside coordinator and if called to also be a Church leader and do
it all for around a mere million dollars a year. Kyle Whitingham earns two
million a year and doesn't have to do all those things. Hmmm - so why
isn't Kyle Whittinham succeeding? Anyway, perhaps it is too much to ask
that BYU lets their football coach primarily coach football and allow the other
resources there to coordinate other important activities. I am beginning to
wonder if Bronco is the right guy for the job? He certainly has made
questionable decisions (such as lettling Riley play injured so much). I
don't envy Tom Holmoe and the decsions he is likely going to have to make
during the off season. It will be interesting to see if they let Brandon Doman
go. Oh heck, what do I know anyway - I just like my Cougs and hope they can
figure out how to get back to winning football games again!
There have been only 3 bright spots on BYU's offense this year: 1. Cody
Hoffman, 2. Jamal Williams (who should have been given the ball more), and 3.
Taysom Hill (who also should have been played more and should have taken a knee
on the most perplexing call of the entire season).
If you read the papers and these comments Cody, please stay for one more year.
