For all the hype, I don't see significant savings. And these people camping
out at a target or best buy already...what are you buying that the time and
discomfort are worth it? Don't you have to work this week, or is the
economy a lot better than everyone has been griping about lately? Everything I
buy on black friday, beer, lottery tickets and some clothing items at Big R,
usually dont' go on sale anyway. I'm doing business and visiting
family and friends, and the shopping is inconsequential.
Online is the only way to go. I did Walmart once, and got a killer deal on much
needed coats. Other than that one time, I've never seen anything worth the
wait or the early morning or the crowds. You usually can't get the good
stuff in the store anyway.
Thanksgiving is for family and not for shopping.I hope the Walmart
employees strike is hugely successful. For me and my family, we will
be shopping at small businesses this weekend on Saturday.
For me it is so sad that Thanksgiving has become this way. My daughter in law
informed me tonight that she or my son will be leaving around 7 to go to
Wal-Mart to buy something that they need to get. We are not getting together
until around 6 at night. I remember as a little girl just how important
Thanksgiving was. Now the retail business wants to forget all about
Thanksgiving. To me this is one of the most important holidays of the year. It
is when we are suppose to stop for a day and be grateful for all of our
blessings. Instead everyone now is trying to forget this special Holiday.
Shopping on line is too risky on quality and value shopping, but as gifts, who
cares about quality or value, right? With so many more people handing
out plastic poker chips as gifts is also a sign of indifference and value. I
would prefer a 50 cent post card over a plastic chip, at least it will have some
thought written on it you can assume has a meaning from the giver. When the economy was prosperous 25-45 years ago this day had some meaning but
not a name meant to cheer up small business and retail outlets with false
indignation that failure is likely if you don't sacrifice your profits to
keep the doors open for another day. This used to be a day after that promoted
and stretched the day of giving thanks with 3 day chirstmas shopping of
unlimited supply and choices. Now its name implies a day of death if
you don't get there first in hope the store bought enough of the lost
leaders devices they sacrifice to get customers in the stores. Loss leaders are
kept to a dozen or less.
Time is money! The question is: Is your time worth it?
Walmart going to open at 8pm on Thanksgiving night? Feel bad for walmart
EVERYONE STAY HOME!!!! (That way I can get all the good deals...
