Utah liquor laws are a lost cause.
An excellent common sense solution from one of our more thoughtful and pragmatic
legislators.Pass it and get on with cutting spending in other areas.
And, with privatizing the state liquor stores.
While I applaud the effort to make more licenses available, I fear the move will
further the cultural homogenization of the nation at the expense of local color.
Who needs more of the bland repetition of a dozen more chain outlets when you
could have the invigorating variety of Meditrina, Tin Angel, Pago, or the Green
Pig? Plus, the operating expenses (advertising, supplies, ingredients, menu
printing, etc.) of local restaurants stay in the community, as do the profits.
While this is a common sense thing in some ways, the unitnentied consequence is
that local restaurants are at an even further competitive disadvantage.
This article forgot to mention that hostess management recently gave itself huge
pay raises, then asked workers to take cuts in pay.
I have no problem with the restaurants that are here now.
