How is it though to see the go out like this? Did they deserve better weather so
that Timpview could beat them by more than 19 points? Or do they diverse to lose
to Timpview in the finals instead of the semi-finals just like Herriman and
Logan didn't deserve to lose in the first round. I agree that the kids
didn't deserve all the garbage from paperwork issues, but life throws a lot
of adversity at people that don't deserve it. This was a great opportunity
for the kids to deal with the messiness of life.Great job on
creating a team that would have won most other years.
Timpview was punished to the full extent of these particular violations, East
was not. Maybe it was poetic justice. I imagine if the weather is better
Timpview wins even bigger. And its players like East went through a lot, losing
their beloved coach last spring. But these players are playing very well and
their QB Jake Lloyd is playing like his hair is on fire. The better team won.
eagle, here's the difference: Timpview was ALREADY on probation for
improprieties the year before. Part of being on probation is that future issues
like ineligibility AUTOMATICALLY mean forfeiture. East was NOT on probation,
and therefore the "MAY forfeit" language applied to them. Just get over
I notice fellow TV fans are commenting here. We will never know how the game
would have played out under fair weather conditions. It is only speculation.
That East team was beastly and fast, by any high school standards. If they could
have held on to the ball it may have been a very different kind of game. After
speaking with my sons (2 starters and 1 part-time starter) they told me that
they just did their best to execute the game plan. Bringing down a player like
Tolutau is not a feat for the faint of heart, yet my sons did so believing that
their training, their hearts, their minds and their wills would win out. The
coaches have instilled that mindset in them. Congrats to East for a fine season
and giving TV an opportunity to compete on the field. Now it is on to Mountain
Crest, a well-coached and peaking-at-the-right-time team that will be a great
opponent next Friday. Our team needs to stay focused and prepare well for a
hard fought battle. GO (ANGRY)TBIRDS!!!!!
Like everyone has said all year....Timpview is the best team in the State-any
classification.They worked us, and I don't see a weakness
anywhere. Best offense I have seen in a long time at the HS level. 50
Td's to 6 Ints thru the air, and a bruising running game. Solid O line
that is the only team i have seen that was able to block East's furious
rush. Mix in a swarming, nasty defense. Syracuse D is maybe a little better
IMO, but overall team Timpview is very tough to beat.Congrats TView.
Good luck next week against a talented MCrest team.
pnwtoslc, your wrong. tv was put on probation near the end of the regular
season when they found out about the year b4. the ineligible player broke the
rules at the BEGINNING of the season. therefore, they were not punished more
severely because the infraction happened BEFORE they were put on probation. it
was discussed a few weeks ago in that meeting where east and tview appealed.
congrats to tview. after seeing basically every powerhouse team in the state, i
have to put them at #1. the transformation they made from the beginning of the
season to now is INCREDIBLE. as far as offense/defense/special teams combined?
there total package is the best in the state.
PAC 12 FEVER:While I think Timpview is a great team Jordan is the
best team in the state this year. Both have two common opponent and Alta beat
TV and Jordan beat Alta, handily. Also both Lone Peak, TV won by a few points,
Jordan won by three touchdowns. This is no slight on Timpview but Jordan has
proven, assuming they win, that they are the best in state. If they don't,
that honor would probably have to go to Syracuse.
We can speculate til the cows come home. It won't get us any closer to the
truth. Props to Jordan for a great season. They are an awesome team to watch.
Common opponents, early season games, etc. etc. is great for dialogue, but all
we can do is play the games that are scheduled and hope to win. Style points
count to some. Not so much for others. Let's win our classifications and
call it good. That is all that the boys are thinking of at this point.
Here's hoping that all the participants come ready to play and leave it all
on the field. No regrets!
eagle. You forgot another common opponent in East whom Timpview handled and the
same could not be said about Jordan. I believe Timpview is more superior at
this point versus when they played their first two games of the year. With that
bring said, I also believe Timpview could hang with most of the pac ten teams
this year whereas Jordan could only hang with the bottom three or so.
I guess I am a little confused by posts and comments from people associated with
Timpview. Why exactly are they "angry?" What do they have to be
"angry" about? Are they angry with themselves for breaking clear rules?
All this proves is that one of the most storied "recruiting" schools in
the state still understands how to recruit better than a relatively new one.
buffalo72hahaha whatever helps u sleep at night. U think we care what
haters say? No. why? because all u are going to be at home watching us on tv win
ANOTHER STATE TITLE!
@buffalo72: I guess that is why they were so stacked with talent last year and
so many of their seniors got D1 scholarships. And that must be why they have so
much size and why so many of their players started the season with so much D1
interest. Your comment shows your ignorance and is disrespectful to the players
and coaches on both teams that have worked really hard.@Tenn12: My
understanding is that aside from being a play on the Angry Birds game, it
represents how they are using the adversity that they have faced throughout the
season and directing it to increasing the intensity of their game. The more
jealous people call them cheaters, the harder they will play. The more jealous
people try to tear their program down, the harder they will be to stop. The team
accepts the consequences of the mistakes of a couple of people and instead of
letting it get them down, they face the challenge head on.
Mab93 thanks for the response. All of their adversity was brought on by
themselves though. I dont believe they recruited and i respect the success of
their program. I am not a hater. To me though, all their angry mottos this year
are just spin the coaches used to motivate players. Seems like a cheap trick as
they have no reason to be angry.
For those that want the real story of TV's issues, here it is. An
O-lineman whose family moved from Provo to Saratoga Springs a few years back
played for Westlake his Sophomore year. The family then moved back to Provo and
the young man transferred to Timpview. He played their his Junior year and the
the first few games (his senior year) this year. His brother on the other hand
decided he wanted to play his Senior year at Westlake last year and that's
the reason he was considered ineligible. To be quite honest, that
itself is such a stupid and silly reason to make that player ineligible. Why on
earth would you not let a student transfer to a school closer to where his
family moved. The family moved because it was financially easier to them to
live in Provo and we punish the student for not wanting to attend a school
closer to home. The fact that his brother decided to finish out his senior year
at Westlake really should have had no bearing on whether this student had the
right to go to Timpview or not. Silly and stupid for sure.
Timpview is just a better team.No disrespect.That's
just the facts.
Tenn12, I asked someone on the team about Angry T-birds and he didn't know
what I was talking about so I think it came from the fans after the Logan
game.Though I agree that the forfeits were caused by mistakes at
Timpview, it wasn't just Timpview fans that felt there was a dual standard.
And, given the circumstances of the intelligible player it didn't warrant
them being labeled cheaters. Those Logan fans were acting like a bunch of high
