Now Mitt Romney can go back to watching his investments. However, it really is
a stretch to have imagained that Washington, D.C. would become dominated by Utah
politicians. Now for the in-fighting to begin. Fox News's
Charles Krauthammer has already dismissed Romney as the "transitional"
candidate. He even commented that moderate Republicans in the Northeast lost
suggesting that the Party had fielded the worst candidates for this election .
This indicates that the extreme Right will be playing the blame game for the
next six months. They are already saying that the Republican ticket was
upside-down and Paul Ryan should have been the presidential candidate and Romney
was a poor standard-bearer.
I voted for Romney and Ryan. But we now have 4 more years of President Obama.
And from a November 1, 2012 DN article, we know the truth of what kind of a
presidency he has had for the past 4 years: "On Sept. 11, 2012, four
Americans — including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens — were killed in
an attack at a U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya.Questions in the days
following the assault centered on the public reaction of the Obama
administration, which for two weeks treated the attack as a spontaneous response
to an anti-Islamic YouTube video, even though, as Reuters reported, White House
officials had been told within two hours that it was a planned terrorist

with its president.Hurricane Obama care, and bankruptcy will soon
hit us like a storm. Obama now has more flexibility.
stay classy worf.
@GoshI can not figure out why it is that some on the far right continue to
think that these wild conspiracy theories will work in their favor. they failed
in 2008 and the failed again, maybe its time to give it a rest.
Worf apparently thought his comment was so clever that he had to post it on two
separate articles tonight. I'm not going to gloat about Obama winning a
second term, but I don't feel much sympathy for folks like this who get
nasty and petulant when things don't go their way. You'll get through
it, Worf, chin up! And buy Fox News stock, they are going to have a banner year
griping and moaning about this.
The American public, the vast majority are moderates. They voted for the
moderate candidate. Republicans need to take some lessons from this loss. 1.
The tea party was not a model for the party. 2. Lose the religious nut jobbers
and their anti-science stances, these folks are a huge turn-off. Jon Huntsman
said it best, heed his words! 3. show some compassion for others not like you.
4. Embrace smaller government w/o picking and choosing. If you are for small
government don't turn around and then start trying to regulate who marries
each other and dictating a Woman's reproductive rights. 5. Make a MUCH
better effort to reach across the isle, otherwise nothing gets done and we all
lose. 6. Become the GOP of old, the Big Tent... not the narrow hallway the
party has become. Don't kick out your so-called "RINO's" just
like Demo's know they can't just kick out the Jim Mathesons of the
world (the blue-dog demo's). Again, the party needs some diversification
culturally, religiously, etc. So Republicans, take my advice or risk further
marginalization as a party! It's your choice.
By the way, Deseret News, Mitt Romney's loss is not "utah's
loss". There is a significant and growing portion of the state population
that is neither Mormon nor conservative. That portion doesn't want Mitt
Romney, didn't like Mike Leavitt, is happy that they are no longer
"poised to make an impact" and is disgusted with the gerrymandering that
has made all the congressional districts in Utah Republican when a good 1/3 of
the state is Democratic.
I am truly not being melodramatic, snarky or what word you may choose...We are doomed to go further into the abyss of economic collapse and we
may NEVER recover. This president does not know how to do, nor do his
"advisors" know how to do, anything but make speeches punctuated with
abrupt, sharp statements, concede and bow to foreign leaders, cover up, and
send/take his wife and daughters on expensive vacations. He has no skill set to
lead because he has never done it. Not before he won four years ago and
certainly not during the last four years. We have just witnessed what
happens when those who vote for a living outnumber those who work for a living,
we are in trouble.
@Oh, please!"We have just witnessed what happens when those who
vote for a living outnumber those who work for a living, we are in
trouble."So the 7.9% unemployed swayed this election? I'm employed and I voted for President Obama. It didn't count,
though, because of the Electoral College, but I voted for him. What a conundrum
for Republicans to fathom.
Now the ball is in Obama's court. No more blaming Bush. Still have the
republican congress to deal with. This is your Obama-care. Now we will find out
what Obama-care is all about. Will the media now hold Obama more accountable now
that he has more "flexibility"? When will he finally be held
"I am truly not being melodramatic, snarky or what word you may
choose.."Umm, yes you are. You are being the very definition of
melodramatic. Not snarky, no, but a petulant sore loser. Like a lot of
commenters here, you are venting shallow attacks that skirt this one issue: your
candidate didn't win, and perhaps for valid reasons. Your last
sentence is a particularly obnoxious insult of half the country. Those who vote
for a living outnumber those who work? Mooches, all of 'em, huh?
That's quite an insult to the millions upon millions of responsible working
citizens who voted for Obama. Off the pedestal, please.
What did we learn tonight? Nice guys finish last and dirty character
assassination campaigns work...barely. This is not Utah's loss. This is the
failure of America to recognize who was the best man to do the job. Time will
Oh Please!"We have just witnessed what happens when those who
vote for a living outnumber those who work for a living"I'd
love to see the statistic that proves your statement. I'm guessing it is
published in the Journal of Make Stuff Up to Blame Everyone Else. It's a
popular periodical among people who don't understand that their world view
isn't the only valid one.
All I can say is America will soon find out what Greece already knows and then
what? What is Greece? Bankrupt and desperate. Paul Ryan warned that as House
Budget Director there IS a FISCAL cliff coming within two years... we
"had" one last chance to avoid it and we blindly decided to ignore the
warnings. To be honest I could care less about all the Obama welfare crowd ...
it is the hard working middle class, tax paying Americans who are going to see
the remains of their American dream be crushed... they don't deserve this
but deserve has nothing to do with it. We all get what is coming like it or not
and it is going to be pretty darn scary. Just remember America - you chose
this!!!! Wait til our deficit hits 20 trillion and the house of cards comes
crumbling down. "What me worry?" (Alfred E Newman of Mad
Magazine)Is this doom and gloom? We will see in about 18-24 months.
Imaging if you can 20% interest rates again (Jimmy Carter era). Image your car
loan or home loan. It scares me and it should scare you too. Too late now.
re:ParkCityAggieVast majority are moderates? Oh please stop it. The
majority of Americans want free stuff and could care less how we pay for it. You
call that moderate? America is no more moderate than Greece and America will
soon be tasting the nasty dog food that Greece is eating right now.. bankruptcy
and desperation. Oh - that mean both you and I !!!
Oh, Please . . . I work 2 part-time jobs to supplement my husband's
full-time income and I voted for Obama. In fact, I work from home and was
working most of the evening while I watched the returns coming in, much to my
delight. Please do not insult those who happen to vote Democrat (by
the way, I voted for several Republicans because I thought they would do the
best job). Your comments kind of sum up why many people are disinfranchised
from the Republican party. Time to abandon the elitist attitude.
WestGranger,What did we learn tonight? That a tiny majority in
popular vote results in a surprisingly crushing electoral win, that America is
perfectly divided in who they wanted for president, and that those on the losing
side of an election will immediately blame someone, anyone, everyone because
they think far too much of their own opinion and subconsciously try to prove
that misery loves company.
Guess he should have released those tax returns!
Emajor,How is this for melodrama? Obama has increased our national
debt by 5.3 trillion dollars. That is over $17,000 per man, woman and child in
the US. That is a new car for every person in the US.Unemployment
is worse now than it was under Bush.Wages are flat, inflation is
high. Healthcare is anything but affordable under the "Affordable
Healthcare Act"And the president started a war with a
middle-east oil dictator whose sons were willing participants in the brutality.
Funny enough, the citizens of the country attack and kill the Americans that
helped freed them. And he got a Nobel Peace Prize.Go ahead eMajor,
say what you are going to say. This country is in a pit, and instead of getting
out we collectively decided to dig in deeper. At this borrowing rate, in four
more years he will have borrowed us an SUV, not a midsized four door.
Obama and company used my money, your money, and future generations' money
to buy a constituency, and it worked. We now have more people than ever on
social/welfare programs, and they're not about to bite the hand that feeds
them. Most of those big electoral college states have a huge percentage of
people who depend on government for many things, and they sure don't mind
stealing it from the rest of us--particularly when big media encourages this
movement. It's as simple as that. Meanwhile, we have people like Matheson
who try to LOOK conservative, but stand around and watch while it all happens.
The people of Utah SAY they don't like career politicians, but they
continue to vote them in and keep them there. So there you go. Lots of people
and resources politics, not much really committed to the people who work and
Well Folks, Its Over.So now we have 2 choices. - Hope
the president fails and the country falters. Insure that Obama gets nothing
good done and no "wins". Look for the bad in everything the other party
does. Put politics over country.OR OR OR- Suck it
up and move forward. Look to find common ground. Hope and work for what is
best for the country. Ask our congress to work together and get things done. What is more important? Your party or your country? Are you patriotic?
If so, what does that mean to you?
Oh, good grief. Pipe dreams. Utter silliness. For example, Leavitt and Jowers?
Would never have happened. I guess if Utah puts all its eggs in one basket, it
has to live with the consequences.
With the vitriol and lies employed by right wing ideologues in this election, it
sure is tempting to "spike the football" in their petty faces. But that
is not what we need. We need to come together and do what is best for the future
of this country.Republicans have a choice to make. You can be sore
losers, and wine and gripe and obstruct for the next four years, ignoring the
lessons of this election, OR you can roll up your sleeves and get on board to
make a positive contribution to the betterment of this great nation.Continuing to be "the party of No" will only hurt your chances in
WestGranger: I also live in Granger part of West Valley and DISAGREE with your
summary. Yes, Utah lost because Utah is a one-party state - with the exception
of Jim Matheson, Ben McAdams, and aa few local races. We learned that
Republicans play just as dirty as Democrats as vividly illustrated by the ads
the Super PACs ran against Jim Matheson and Mia Love. On the other hand, ads
produced by the candidates were reasonable. America recognized that
Barack Obama IS the best man for President at this time.
Wow....I love how the Hippocrates are out in full force today....I am not a
Republican or a Democrat, but it doesn't matter we are all
"entitled" to our opinions. Had Obama lost you all would have been belly
aching too. Let's all grow up and let people have their opinion, even if
it isn't your opinion doesn't mean it is any less important.
The problem with the Right is that many of their most influential leaders, at a
young and impressionable age, read Ayn Rand and over time come to believe her
fictional cartoon caricature actually resembled a large portion of our country
(moochers vs. producers). Given all the facts in their favor they
should have trounced Obama and taken control of all three branches of
government. But Americans don't like delusional ideologues and until the
Right marginalizing these folks, nights like last night could become the norm.
Park City Aggie Right on. Time to end the tea party and return to reality.
Republicans can start by with immigration. The harsh tea party rhetoric
alienated millions of hispanic voters and most likely cost Romney the election.
Time to be honest with the American people. Booting Grover Nordquist and any
politian who signs his ridiculous pledges out of the party would be a good
start. There is no feasible way to reduce the deficit without a combination of
tax increases and spending cuts. It's time to end the partisan gridlock
in congress and start putting America first. Mia love lost because she was way
to partisan and had no intention of working with dems on any issue. There is a
huge income inequality in this country. Romney never could never relate to the
poor or those struggling just to survive. Nobody cared that his wife drove two
Cadillacs. I voted for Romney, dissapointed he lost. Last night I was talking
to my best friend about the election. He predicted a Romney landside. How out
of touch with reality does the far right have to be. Enough of the conspiracy
"Is Mitt Romney's loss Utah's loss?"Is Barack
Obama's win America's loss? Is the Pope Catholic?
This article just reaffirms my suspicions about a Mormon President bringing in
more Mormons into his administration. I'm thankful it turned out the way it
Utah has got to wake up to reality. Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, and the Tea Party
are fear mongers. The ultra conservative positions held by this cadre are
hurting the Republic Party and the our state. The only thing "Hanging by a
thread" is Utah's national credibility.
Well, America doesn't deserve a better future if they can't vote for
it when they see it. Here's to four more years of fiscal mismanagment,
Obamacare, horrible foreign policy, no wait, he's great with some
countries, but those that are in the best interest of the American people?
Forget about it!!!! The inmates have the asylum for four more years.
West granger wrote:"What did we learn tonight? Nice guys finish

Utah's loss. This is the failure of America to recognize who was the best

you probably didn't learn a thing, and that is why you lost the Whitehouse
and made no inroads into the Senate, and barely held the House. If
Republicans "learned", they wouldn't have foisted Romney (a liberal
in sheep's clothing) and Ryan (a TeaPartier) into the nomination; they
wouldn't have marginalized over half of Americans, whether it was Latinos,
Women, the poor, or the infamous 47% Romney so despised. So save your
bitterness and sour grapes. Fear mongering didn't win the election, and it
won't help anything now.
Romney's loss was DEFINITELY Utah's loss, and not because of Leavitt.
The rest of us and our descendants will be paying for Obama's win for
generations to come. Leavitt and his family should do just fine, but the
middle-class workers and small businesses that are still trying to make it all
work will continue to suffer greatly. But many will just ignore it and look
forward to the weekends, the ball games, and all the other fluff. "Men
occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and
hurry off as if nothing had happened."--Winston Churchill
America awoke today with a big sigh of relief, though in the end it wasn't
even close. The message of the GOP was soundly defeated in just about every
major race across the country. Intolerance and divisiveness were not tolerated.
The days of those that preach that dogma are nubered. There will be mid term
elections in 2 years and they will be ousted in droves. Secularism and diversity
are just 2 things that make America such a great country!
Wonderful news is greeted with hateful vitriol in Utah.Ah, well . .
. . .
When Utah legislators (Mormons) pass alcohol related laws that are considered
inhibiting compared to other states, it resonates in the press. When tourists
come to Utah and are subjected to laws that seem designed to move your actions
and morals toward becoming a member of “the state majority” it is
relayed to their fellow friends and neighbors upon their return to
“reality” back home. It is considered normal for adults to drink
alcohol, coffee, and tea. When they are considered less than first class humans
here in Utah for doing the same, it resonates. A Mormon president is impossible
to consider when the impression has been instilled that he will lead all of
Americana into the land of Zion and we will all be forced to bend to the will of
the LDS doctrine and Word of Wisdom. That concept is unfathomable to those of
other faiths or even no faith. This opinion is so well in-trenched that there
will never be a LDS president until it can be trusted that the LDS religion can
stop thrusting their morals onto the general public. In other words, Live and
I believe the best way to move forward is to follow Mitt's example in his
concession speech and honestly congratulate President Obama and earnestly pray
for him and our nation. At the same time, it would be prudent to work
diligently to put our own houses in order.
There's a lot of "sour grapes" here! I'm glad we
American's have such dignity.
I guess alot of you will be moving to Canada. Have fun with their health care.
Good Lord, what have we done. Our country cannot take four more years of this
man. If we can't elect an honorable, hard-working, brilliant man like Gov.
Romney, then we really deserve another four years under Obama descending ever
further into economic irrelevance. I would like to share a fact-based argument
as I've usually done ad nauseum on here, but I'm just not in the mood
and I've come to the unavoidable conclusion that facts aren't
motivating many on the left; it's really a "what's in it for
me" mentality. I'm really not bitter or even spiteful towards the left,
really. I am just very, very scared of what our country is going to look like in
four years. I'm not sure even the perfect candidate will be able to fix
things and reverse the damage by then. I am very, very scared that
America's glory days of economic, religious, political and moral greatness
are behind us. And I'm wishing very, very hard that I am ultimately proven
Mitt Romney’s national ambitions represent little more than a nihilistic
pursuit of power for power’s sake. No one knows for sure how he
would govern because he very likely doesn’t, either. He has been on
both sides of nearly every issue of substance not merely throughout his career,
but sometimes during this campaign. Yes, all politicians trim,
hedge, occasionally even change their minds. With Romney it is a
characterological defect. His utter lack of intellectual honesty —
indeed of any recognizable intellectual core whatsoever — is not
something that should be rewarded even in a political system as shallow and
dysfunctional as ours.
I voted for Romney and Ryan, but they lost. The curious thing is, Obama
didn't win. He only managed a tie. He still has the Senate, but didn't
get the house. Now that he's unable to run again, he'll have to play
nice with the Republicans, because their hands are on the purse strings, for at
least two more years. The Democrats will bluster and point fingers, shouting
about the impending disaster of not having a budget. The Republicans are in the
position to thumb their nose and say, "tough!" History shows we've
gone under before and survived. We'll survive again. All Obama can do
now, is play nice with hat in hand, or risk damaging the Democrats hold on the
Senate and House. Boehner has already made it clear, major tax hikes won't
fly. This means Obama has to come up with another plan.
The Gadiaton Robbers are now in complete control of the Executive Office. Does
anyone REALLY believe that the country is now going to go forward and get better
for the middle class?
Yes! If you make dire predictions and threats to attempt to win an election,
you are stuck with a loss and your dire predictions. Leavitt will have to party
in Cedar city on grape from tons and tons of sour grapes.
Why do many Mormons disregard the counsel in the Book of Mormon to help the poor
and the needy? The Brethren stated quite clearly that there is good in the
platforms of both parties.
The silence is deafening here in Saint George this morning.
@ Voice of ReasonYou, Sir or Madam, are blind to what the
nation's voters saw.You like Romney because your club like him, and
tells you to do so as well. But the voters saw lies,
stances-of-the-day, and decided a salesman belongs in sales, not in the White
House. When will the GOP put a candidate forward with anything of
value to offer?McCain? Hardly.Palin? A horrible idea from the
gate.Romney? Sorry, no snake oil for us normal people, thank you.
"The Brethren stated quite clearly that there is good in the platforms of
both parties."Is that really something that you need to have
pointed out to you by the "brethren"?
Mike in Sandy...sound like you've been watching too much main stream media.
Well...It looks like in addition to Pres. Obama keeping his job,Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck will be keeping their jobs as well [they depend on
him too.]Meanwhile - Grow up.Just like High School kids
electing a Student Body Officer, after the election is over, remember, we
all still belong and attend the same High School. You start trashing
America because YOUR guy didn't win, is like trashig your High School
because your guy didn't win. It's called TREASON.Grow-up.Sour Grapes.....
Is the word for Republicans going forward to keep obstructing and maligning this
president because he was audacious enough to win a second term with the help of
the little people? One suspects that Rush Limbaugh and disgruntled
conservatives will continue to try and make Obama a "failed president".
They would prefer to punish Obama in whatever way they can instead of working
with him to solve the problems of America. Even Romney's appeal to work
together will fall on deaf, Republican ears because the animosity is so great.
So many hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent whipping the Republican
faithful into a froth, how will they ever find a way to work together and
compromise for the common good. One suspects the birther nonsense
will remain a bulwork of conservative ideology. Obama will continue to be cast
as "The Other". Laments that he is "destroying" America will
become a continuing theme with Fox News and the wingnut talking heads of
Right-Wing media. And the Far Right will begin to eat their young, claiming
that because Romney wasn't "really" one of them, the
Republican's failed. And reality, once again, will elude the Republlican

patriot Cedar Hills, UTDo you know the definition of }paranoid

America you predict doesn't occur? The strident warnings of "doom and
gloom" fearmongering has become more only sour grapes and the whining of
sore losers.Unfortunately, the DesNews 'Letters to the
Editor' page and the accompanying comments section will continue to have
the onslaught of anti-Obama rhetoric for the next four years. The birthers
nonsense will continue. The accusation of Obama as "The Other" will
continue. The idea that Obama is not a "real" American will continue.
The conservative talking points for the election will continue. Even after all
this has been debunked by the news factcheckers, the movement conservatives and
wingnuts writing here will continue to express their nonsense since they
don't want to believe anything different. But that's all
OK. Obama has another four years. That's what really matters.
Throughout America last night, we heard a huge sigh of relief.

Santa Claus is still out there waiting to give you everything you want with no

he's getting good at THAT, so until it's all gone (and I mean
literally GONE), you can keep playing that game of make believe.
Mike, time to come home and sell insurance.
RE: PatriotThe ignorance shown in your post is truly astounding. The Fed
recently announced that interest rates will stay at their historic lows for the
foreseeable future. That means for at least the next 18 months. You
should also read the Constitution sometime. In it you will find that ALL
spending bills must come from the House of Representatives. Republicans control
the House so it really is up to your party to work with the president and fix
our debt problem. Yelling and screaming that the sky is falling won't do
anyone any good. Stop complaining and predicting doom and gloom and do
something to help.

what he said he would do only covers about 1/3 of that) and 2 trillion dollar
defense spending hike bringing defense spending to levels unseen since WWII
would not have done anything to help the deficit.

thanks tea-partiers and ron paul for giving us 4 more years
The whining is unbelieveable! The doom and gloom crowd is out in force. No
wonder America rejected your vision of things. You left a mess when your guy
left office in 2008, handed it to Obama who has made good progress in addressing
your mess, and then you blame him for the mess YOU created. You are mad because
he did not clean up your mess fast enough, even though you fought every effort
to fix things. The apocolyptic predictions are absurd beyond belief. Grow up,
people. If there is a threat to the nation, it comes from the right wing.
I would like to suggest that everyone commenting on this thread, keep a copy and
look at it four years from now. Doing the same for your favorite pundit(s) might
be equally enlightening.

RE: atl134", Funny enough, the citizens of the country attack and kill the
Americans that helped freed them" (Benghazi),This was in the middle of
the business day in Washington, so everybody at the White House, CIA, Pentagon,
everybody was watching this go down,” said Retired Army Lt. Col. Tony
Shaffer. “According to my sources, yes, [Obama] was one of those in the
White House Situation Room in real-time watching this.” The issue is
always political with the White House, but the secretary of defense gives the
order, has to be approved by the White House, they wouldn’t pull the
trigger, and it’s disgraceful,” said military analyst Col. David
Hunt. “We’ve got guys dead.”In 1969-70, I guarded
airplanes in Thailand(635th SPS) there were firefights in the jungle and a
couple buildings were blown up on the flight-line. The only comfort
I had was if we came under heavy attack the Army Airborne was nearby to support
us and singha beer.. It never occurred to me that they would stand down.
Hillary in 2016!
Marget Thatcher once said "the problem with socialism is that you eventually
run out of other people's money." Greece and Portugal are already
there. We are getting close. Mike in Sandy, what is the point of electing
Hillary in 2016 if there is nothing left to steal?
To all you Obama voters, and lovers,Hope I'm wrong about him.
I'd rather be a fool than to live in a destroyed country. There's no
George Bush to blame anymore, just Congress, and who ever else that can be
found. We'll see who is smiling in the next four years when the
secrets of Obama care is revealed.
GOP - Listen to Huntsman, not the far right, or the religious right. I am a
fiscally conservative, social moderate independent voter. There are lots of us
out there, and we are reluctantly voting for democrats. I think that Romney
wanted to be a good, moderate president. His record in Mass. is probably most
telling of how he would have governed. But he had to go so far right to appease
the so-called "base" that it was hard to trust that he really was a
moderate by the time it came to the general election. The far right is
like Darth Vader, "come to the dark side, let your anger control you." I
hope the GOP does not listen Finally, Chaffez's comment that Romney
would have worked with the GOP on "state lands" reveals a concern I had
with Romney. Because of his ties to Utah's GOP, he might have let Utah
steal federal lands. (Look up the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and the Utah
Enabling Act). Utah cannot afford them. How would another $40m in firefighting
costs for the state have felt this summer? And it would jeopardize our
recreation industry and quality of life.
Congratulations, America. Obama is now completely free to be who he truly is.
No more accountability to voters; no more worrying about swing state polls; no
more having to tell the current Russian dictator "patience, I have to wait
to give you what you want until the American people can't fire me any
more". This may be a real blessing in disguise in the long run,
since we're about to see what a truly progressive, radical-left
administration is capable of doing without fear of being fired. Perhaps that is
what it will take to finally wake America up to the evils of socialist
progressivism...because I fear that is exactly where Obama is going to go.So congratulations, America. Or at least the 50% who voted for him.
You own this. Obama owns the economy lock, stock & barrel. No more
excuses. No more blaming Bush. Oh, I'm sure he'll try when the
inevitable malaise sets in. But perhaps only then will America wake up and find
out that voting for Santa Claus means you have to pay for your stocking stuffers
& presents in the end. And the cost may be more than you can ever afford.
ATL134"The annual deficit has decreased each of the past 3 years
under Obama (2010 2011 2012 budgets)."You are wrong. From the
Whitehouse's website, the document calledFiscal Year 2013; Historical
Tables; Budget of the US Government Table 1.1 pg 232010
1.293 trillion2011 1.299 2012 1.326 (estimate)As you can see,
2010 to 2012 the deficit increased each year. Look for at least 4-5 trillion
more in 4 more yearsYes, but the Ambassador is still dead, and
American warplanes stopped Libyan bombers from leveling the town and they still
attacked. Bush removed a murderous tyrant from Iraq and Al-Qaida moved in to
attack Americans. Iraqi millitants are in the minority also. Yet it is ok to
politicize Iraq and Katrina but not ok to question Libya and Sandy? When then
is it ok evaluate and point out Obama missteps?"33+ straight
months of private sector job gains.."The Unemployment rate is
still higher than when he took office, and that is even before considering the
workforce participation rate, which means unemployment is really above 10%.
Less than 100K a month won't keep pace with population growth.
FUZIZ writes" I am a fiscally conservative, social moderate
independent voter."Put me in that camp also
It would be very interesting indeed if there was a way to accurately count up
all the votes cast by Obama and Romney supporters who are on entitlements in
each individual state. I would like to know what Obama apologists estimate as
the percentage of the total population who are on entitlements who voted for
Obama in 2008 and 2012. Any takers?
@Red Headed Stranger..listening to Rush and unfair and unbalanced news I
see..The country went into deep recession in 2008 UNDER Cheney and
Dubya's rule.NEW YORK (The Economist.com) -- "The
hemorrhaging of American jobs accelerated at a record pace at the end of 2008,
bringing the year's total job losses to 2.6 million or the highest level in
more than six decades.A sobering U.S. Labor Department jobs report
Friday showed the economy lost 524,000 jobs in December and 1.9 million in the
year's final four months, after the credit crisis began in September. The total number of unemployed Americans rose by 632,000 to 11.1
million."November,2008 in which 584,000 jobs were lost, and
December, 2008 marked the first time in the 70-year history of the report in
which the economy lost more than 500,000 jobs in consecutive months. And exactly which war did Obama start a war with a middle-east dictator...What
in the world are you talking about? Obama got us OUT of Iraq and soon out of
Afghanistan! Romney told Israel he would have a pre-emptive strike against
To "fuziz" what is wrong with the liberals and their ilk.You
said "The far right is like Darth Vader, "come to the dark side, let
your anger control you." Which in fact is more like the things that Obama
has said.Last Saturday, Obama told voters to vote for hime to enact
REVENGE on the GOP, while Romney encouraged people to vote out of love for
country. There was the incident where Obama told hispanic voters to
take revenge on Republicans. There is also the whole "fair
share" isue where Obama is inciting anger against the wealthy by telling
people that the rich have stolen money from them. You may think that
conservatives are like Darth Vader, but the liberals are on the record acting
like the Emperor.
To "Nuschler1" lets see, Obama started a war against Mubarak and
Gadaffi, and is supplying arms to Syrian rebels. So, that is a total
of 3 dictators that Obama has started wars with. Also, the exit from
Iraq was part of a Bush era treaty. Obama just happened to be President at the
time, he did absolutely nothing to get the troops out of Iraq.
I think that Romney's loss is our gain! people complain about Obama, but I
think it did rather well considering the shape we were put in by the Bush
Administration. He carried out his plan and he did not fail, despite all the
hate filled efforts made by republicans. Romeney would have made a terrible
President. About the only things he promised were to cut all programs that give
aid and, of course, he woukld then take that income and give it to the rich in
the form of more tax deductions. Being Mormon doesn't automatically make
someone good and it doesn't mean that they should automatically become
President. Romeney would have given us more of what Bush dished out, and we
wouldn't survive that for long. For some strange reason, people in this
state feel that to be a good Mormon, you need to be a republican. Mitt did
himself in when his true feelings about Americans surfaced on those videos! How
could anyone think he would have been good for us! How? Personaly, I don't
think he has been a good example of being Mormon either.
Can we stop with the "Bush caused all Obama's problems" lie
already!? I had my issues with Bush for sure, like the debt train he put us on.
But Obama just continued that and put us on the debt space shuttle to the
stars. Substantively, Obama really didn't change much of anything from
Bush...he just made it much, much bigger. Bigger spending. Bigger debt.
Bigger "stimulus", i.e. debt spending. And RFLASH, Romney
never would have "given" money to the rich...that is classic, classic
leftist fallacy. He wouldn't even give them a tax cut! He'd just keep
economy and jobs-killing tax hikes from happening. It is so typical for
leftists to think of all money in the economy as "theirs" to give &
take, as in it's "giving" money to the rich to allow them to keep
more of their OWN money instead of taking it with taxes. And how many times
through history must it be shown in the real world that economies grow when $$$
are in the hands of private industry FAR more than when those $$$ are in the
hands of government?
re: patriot 12:16 a.m. Nov. 7, 2012"Imaging if you can 20%
interest rates again (Jimmy Carter era). Image your car loan or home loan. It
scares me and it should scare you too. Too late now."If Bernanke
remains calling the shots then Interest rates should remain low. I don't
know about you but my mortgage is @ a fixed rate and only a fool would get an
ARM .What we do have to worry about is Wall St acting as petulant as
some of the psoters here. Thereby, tanking our 401(k)'s because one of
their ilk isn't POTUS.
