Mayors rally support for $47M proposition to build parks, trails
Every time government puts something like this on the ballot.1. It needs
to include a guarantee that that money will be used for what people are voting
for. 2. Once it's paid for then the tax is removed3.
Consequences if the money is diverted or used for something else (including
criminal charges against politicians even after they are out of office as long
as they initiated the wrongful use of the money)4. The punishment to the
crime needs to be more than a slap on the wrist. The politicians should
compensate the taxpayer out of their own pocket.5. If more money was
approved than used, then the remaining money is returned to the taxpayers.
We are already overtaxed at all levels of government.Vote no.
This is really a simple bond question, obscured by a lot of confusion about what
happens when bonds are issued for a specific purpose. The real question before
the people is not "do you trust your elected officials" but "do you
want to spend money to buy more parks and trails." Don't let the
background noise confuse you.
Why, when we are in the middle of a recession, are we even voting on this, even
if the county is in a reasonably good financial position? I am for improvement
of parks and trails but not at this time. I believe the county ought to have
real cash in the treasury to do this and not go into debt for it.Vote NO
on prop 1!!
