Herbert, Swallow far outspend opponents
So why couldn't Governor Herbert's campaign pick up the tab? And 42.5
K sounds a bit much to me...
$42,500 is half of the amount he got in 2012 from the ICORE contractor, of
$85,000. The governor knew that would come in handy at this time. The New
Jersey Governor can't praise President Obama enough today as he got plenty
of advertising for his campaign next year in the off year election.
Big deal. The cost depends on the aircraft. It costs about way more to operate
Air Force One and that 747 is going everywhere. Last I heard it was $179,000.00
per hour to operate. The president could use a Gulfstream G V and save a ton of
money for us poor taxpayers.
Staying in the Grand Hotel with the Gala is part of that cost and the Governor
will ensure he is elected by doing anything he needs to.
If Herbert is courting Christie then I have to doubt his conservatism. Christie
is NOT a conservative ... not by any stretch. At best he is a moderate liberal
or independent. I call him a Collin Powell republican which translates to a
republican on paper only. Herbert is ok ...but I would rather see a governor who
had BOLD ideas about how to solve Utah's woeful education instead of just
finding a nickle here and a dime there.
Flashback,Certainly the cost depends on the aircraft, but I have NO
desire to see us cut back on Air Force One. It does not matter who is
president, he or she must be safe and have the full ability to remain commander
and chief even from the air. If that is the price tag, that is fine with me.
This coming from the Party of Cutting and Gutting.Do as I say, not
as I do.[Hypocrites]
That is very disappointing that they would run such costs for a governor.
Granted it is their money and they can do with it as they please. But, it would
be nice to see our leaders practice what they preach. Why couldn't they use
a commercial flight? A round ticket might run near $500. The only way to
justify the private flight, is if by renting a private jet out and flying
everyone out, cost less than a commercial coach class tickets combined. I could
even see paying an extra amount if it meant saving 50-60 working hours for the
governor and staff.C'mon people. Then to watch the
president and governor fly around New Jersey. With the extra security, that is
costing the taxpayers a pretty penny once again. Based on the flyover what
decisions are made that aren't being covered by first responders and
charities? Or does it just make one more talking point and they can say they
were there? They shouldn't be using money we don't have for
Why would I consider voting for Herbert when he spends money like this? There
are plenty of flights with first-clas seats from New Jersey to SLC and for far
less money they could have purchased every seat. Then the NJ Governor
wouldn't have to sit next to the common folk. Add this to the fun
we've had with UDOT's leadership and why would we want Gary running
the ship any longer?
