I'll never be able to understand why some women would tolerate an abusive
relationship. Certainly my wife wouldn't tolerate it for much more than
1/2 second, and the first time would be the last time.Luckily for me
abusing my wife is a strange foreign concept that just will not, and I repeat
will not, ever occur.
Rifleman,I too was in an abusive relationship. First they start out slow
and work on your self esteem, once they know that it the lowest, then the verbal
abuse starts. It starts so small that you don't even think about it. Then
once that is done, then the physical abuse starts. By the time the physical
abuse starts, the victim doesn't think they can get any better! They always
promise that they will get help and it will never happen again.I thank God
everyday that I was one of the lucky ones that got out before I was killed like
this beautiful amazing woman! Trust me, I still am in fear for my life and
it's been over 15 YEARS! But I am stronger now and NO ONE will ever treat
me that way again! My prayers are with Marnie's family! God Bless! I am
glad that your wife wouldn't put up with it and also you are an amazing
man! I just wanted you to see how it started for me.
Re: LighthouseLover Clearfield, UTI like stories with a happy ending
such as yours. Hopefully you already have found, or will find in the future,
someone to walk by your side.
As Lighthouse Lover explained, it is not easy to get away from an abusive
relationship. Often the woman has no means of support, she has children to
consider, and the man (especially if they are married) will threaten to take the
children away from her by demonstrating in some way that she is an unfit mother.
This happened to my daughter, and it took her a while to get away from her
horrible now-ex husband. He has done his best to make her life miserable ever
since. Thankfully, she is married to a good man, and FINALLY the courts were
able to do something about the ex through an alteration of their divorce decree.
I also understand, as I was in an abusive marriage many years ago when my
oldest 2 were babies and I was pregnant with my 3rd. I had to run to the
neighbors in the middle of the night for help from the police, then I hid in a
tiny apartment for months before I felt safe. I agree with this
article: GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!! Get help from family or friends, but get out!
No Woman, no matter how poor, or how homely she thinks she is, deserves this,
ever! There is always hope and always a way out. D News Please put together an
article to give these woman hope. Give them places and names of organizations
they can run to. Give them phone numbers to call. Most women who feel stuck have
little ones who are stuck too. Help them.
