Dear Mr. Cooke: People who make promises should at least give us a clue as to
how they plan to implement them. You wonder why your race struggles to gain
traction? Could it be that Gov. Herbert delivers and Utah's economy is
doing so much better than the national average?
The problem with Democrats electing a governor is the change in the leadership
of Departments and Agencies. I am sure there may be Democrats that can fill
some of those positions but that is a void that would be faced and the years of
those who are leading those agencies, in most cases. Continuity is part of the
benefit of electing a party that has been in power. However, if there are
problems with many agencies and departments, then that is a good reason to
change a Governor. The present Governor may have some issues with the
$13M, $85,000 and other things but people, the legislature have not done
anything on those issues nor public opinion.
Herbert is the "Anti-Obama". He doesn't have much flash, but he
has a great record. I don't know anyone in my acquaintances who is excited
to vote for him. But I don't know anyone who has said that they will not
be voting for him.
I can't believe the fools who believe anything any politicians says as a
promise or fact is real. Anyone with common sense and 4th grade education knows
promises are moot, irrelevant, and subjective to many variables and questionable
character. Fraud and corruption is out of control and gang from the
ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council) consortium Washington are fleecing
the taxpayers of Utah out of billions of dollars for funding criminal government
contracts in education, police, fire departments, office supplies, UDOT, RDA,
UTA/TRAX and welfare. This ALEC the Governor is a kick back member
of, makes the old Union Mob bosses look like petty thieves compared to the
trillions of tax dollars flowing through this crime ring of elected officials
trying to eliminate civil rights and free enterprise and competition in our
national/international commerce. They are establishing federalism and kick back
$millions$ to participating elected representatives of the people. To
gage a mans performance by how much he spends is very foolish and irresponsible.
I would rather know about how much they save and don't spend. Government
spending does have limits, its the corruption and fraud that is unlimited under
the watch of governor Herbert.
Re: CWV1965 Taylorsville, UT"Government spending does have limits, its
the corruption and fraud that is unlimited under the watch of governor
Herbert."So why don't the Democrats provide a worthy
candidate to oppose Gov. Herbert? Gov. Herbert beat Peter Corroon by better
than 65% in the 2010 special election. For a while I thought Peter Cooke might
do better. It is starting to look like he may do even worse.
Rifleman,You said I think you mad a mistake where you said "Dear
Mr. Cooke: People who make promises should at least give us a clue as to how
they plan to implement them". I think you met "Dear Mr. Romney: People
who make promises should at least give us a clue as to how they plan to
I am not pleased with Governor Herbert, but I am less pleased with the crazy
spending on campaigns. What I want to see is a website for each candidate where
they explain what they want to do if elected and any ideas they have, and what
priorities they give to the issues.
Re: Fred44 Salt Lake City, Utah""Dear Mr. Romney: People who make
promises should at least give us a clue as to how they plan to implement
them"."Before he bungled the first presidential debate Obama
appeared to have had the election all sown up. Apparently a majority of the
voters now view Romney as the answer to problems Obama hasn't solved.Maybe they think Romney can do for our country what he did for the 2002
Winter Olympics. There must be some reason why Obama's bus is stuck in the
Rifleman good point, those are the Buses made in Canada.Go Romney!
