Wait, Did this country become a theocracy when I wasn't looking?
Roland Martin: If someone is ripping out the foundations of your home, talking
about a door knob doesn't make much sense! Marraige between a man and a
women and abortion are the foundation and yes, considering the lack of clarity
about such simple self-evident issues, voting on just those issues is rather
@bandersen they are the foundations of your religious beliefs not our
country and its future.
Mark- Citizens in this country can vote on whatever issues affect them,
theological or secular. And religious leaders can endorse platforms and
policies any day. Tolstoy- What are the foundations of this
country?Graham Boys- Since Mormonism is not Biblical Christianity
according to both sides, why muddy the definition of a false gospel per Peter,
Paul, Jude and Jesus, by removing the cult moniker? Let Americans vote for a
Muslim or a Moonie if they agree with his/her policies or platform. Just stop
redefining what the other 95% of evangelicals define as "another
gospel", using the Bible's own definition. For those of us
pure Biblical evangelicals who are voting Romney/Ryan, we don't acquiesce
on the Bible's message. Sola scriptura is not Sola Fi to every believer.
@shazandrathe foundation of freedom and not just for those you agree with
your religious beliefs. I now people like you want desperately to believe our
laws are based on biblical teachings but as has been discussed to death on these
threads the reality is religion is not necessary for a good or even moral
society and when people try to use their religious beliefs as weapons in
politics it can often interfere with that goal.
You can say or believe pretty much anything you like, but when you do, you run
the risk of having to pay taxes instead of being treated as a charity.
Tolstoy,Please, enlighten me. Tell me what some of the "Moral
Societies" throughout the years have been, that haven't been religious.
. . I'm waiting.Every civilization that has embraced religion has
prospered, however, as history has shown us, when those same civilizations leave
religion behind, they no longer prosper. Have a look at Ancient Greece, The
Roman Empire, The Ming Dynasty, The Aztecs, The Mayans. All of these
civilizations at one time embraced religion. The also all forsake religion and
their societies fell into moral decay and wasted away. The same is happening now
in the U.S. People are leaving religion, no wonder there is so much partisanship
Billy Graham wants what is best for the country. Believe me, Mitt Romney does
not need enemies. He has enough Republican "friends" to vex him all he
Billy Graham is a registered Democrat. Interesting or ironic?
Shazandra. Many of us 'other' Christians are asking your
version of Christians where the Bible teaches you to pray to Jesus or anything
else other than God, Our Heavenly Father, to whom Jesus taught us to pray in His
(Jesus) name. We invite you to follow the Bible teachings in that most basic
principle. But do not get me wrong. I defend your right to call yourselves
Christians and adamantly agree that you are. Please respect my right to worship
Jesus Christ in the ways I read in the Bible in the same way I respect you for
your differences in worship.
Billy Graham is a registered unapologetic democrat. In past interviews, which
are easily found on YouTube, when asked about these divisive issues that are
mentioned in the article, he always stated that he was not qualified to judge
people and chose instead to spread the word of Christ as he understood it. Franklin Graham is trying to promote his own political agenda by
speaking for his father and it is just appalling.
In fact, here is a quote from the Reverend Billy Graham on politics:
"I'm for morality, but morality goes beyond sex to human freedom and
social justice. We as clergy know so very little to speak with authority on the
Panama Canal or superiority of armaments. Evangelists cannot be closely
identified with any particular party or person. We have to stand in the middle
in order to preach to all people, right and left. I haven't been faithful
to my own advice in the past. I will be in the future."
