This will be a challenging game due to injuries along the offensive line and the
offensive scheme that Ga Tech runs. The good news is that BYU has seen Air
Force run this scheme (or something similar). The bad news is that Ga Tech runs
it with bigger, faster, stronger guys.I think BYU gets back in the
win column in this one. What I saw last week, as frustrating as it was, was
encouraging. Holding the #5 team to 17 points on their field.....Williams proves too much. The D stops Ga Tech (their strength - run offense -
against ours - run defense). Hoffman gets behind the defense and Riles hits him
in stride for a TD.
preparing for a soft landing
BHCBYU's run D gave up 270 yards on the ground last week. I
don't understand why that would inspire confidence going into a game
against a team that has the third best rushing attack in the NCAA (339.6 ypg).
To: Broom Hockey Champ, Scottsdale, AZ - what run defense are you talking about.
ND ran for over 200 yards last week against the Cougars. Two backs accounted for
this. After what I saw at ND, a good running team is going to make it a long day
for the Cougars. While there were some aspects of the ND game I liked, this
trainwreck is not going to make it this week. Until the AD makes some needed
changes at the OC and head coach positions, this will continue. What happended
to the once great program?
Wow, I'm in Scottsdale this week, and although the sky has been a bit
overcast, it hasn't been cloudy enough to completely fog up the facts. The
cougs were exposed by the Irish's run game. And in all of their losses,
enough running plays were given up to extend scoring drives, so stopping the
Ramblin' Wreck's running game is not as clear cut as some would like
to believe.Although, playing an opponent with a record below .500,
this former top 25 team should not have a problem winning the game, right?
Boys,Ga Tech is not ND. Ga Tech might run for a lot of yards but
that's because that's what they do. They hardly throw the ball.
Guess which teams are ahead of Ga Tech on the rushing list? Army and Air Force.
It's not because those are amazing rushing team; it's because their
offenses run 80-90% of the time.To hold the #5 team to 17 points is
impressive. Sure, they piled up some running yards, but BYU had a chance to win
the game. I'm not calling for BYU to destroy Ga Tech, but I
think they can win.
Make it simple; just go back to the mountain west conference. Obviously, Utah
and BYU cannot get the job done in more competitive conferences. Sports and
money are a bad combination. We can have the traditional rivalry and see games
on Saturday. There are other sports other than football that are just as
exciting. Losing is a realtiy in sports; look at the NFL. Most of the
time, what team in the super bowl is undefeated, none This quest for revenue is
just killing the three utah football programs. not worth it.
