The parernts' television council. The nanniest of the nanny groups. Trying
hard to make it pablum for all of us.
It's not about censoring what *you* see, it's about truth in labeling
for people in their own homes.
@Hutterite: No, those who think the PTC is trying to censor or limit free speech
are grossly mistaken. The PTC is pushing for responsible, legal, appropriate
television and advertising. By all means, you are welcome to go subscribe to
whatever you want, to buy whatever shows you want. But I should not have to
subsidize filth so that you or others can watch it. Further, most people still
do not get that the broadcast companies are using PUBLIC airwaves. Perhaps
it's hard to understand because television signals are not visible, but
communication bands are managed by the government for the people. Companies do
not have a right to use them. It's a privilege given for responsible use.
The broadcast networks' behavior is akin to companies using main street to
parade their filth, blocking traffic, disregarding laws and decency-- and raking
in the money while they do. It's not legal, it's not appropriate,
it's just not right.
