Now everyone can be all buddy buddy. Kisses and hugs!See Romney
smile? Now if only Franklin could commit.
Religion is so shallow when it pulls these stunts. So which is it, billy? Did
god send you a revelation in the past couple days or were you just making all
this stuff up? Because I thought god is infallible. Appearance means a lot in
these cases and it appears to me that Billy gets more power from his association
with the white house than ANY other source.
Now the Scientologists are all jealous -- "How do we earn legitimacy?"
they are asking.
"We claim the privilege of worshiping almighty God according the dictates of
our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege. To worship how, where,
or what they may."Some pretty shallow and cynical comments
above. Nice PR work Mitt Romney. One excellent example of his
ability find common ground, and to bring and unite people together who have
diametrically opposed theological views. Not an easy task.
Our goal should be to get along with each other. Isn't that what
Christianty should be about? It appears that Mitt Romney has done well. Go
Wow. What a turn of events from Reverend Graham. His own definition labels his
own brand of religion a cult. Reverend Graham prays to the Lord Jesus, and you
won't find that in the Bible, especially the teachings of Jesus himself who
taught us to pray to the Father in his own (Jesus) name. I look forward to the
day when Reverend Graham teaches consistent with the Bible in every way - even
in this one way. Congratulations Mitt for a great accomplishment. Those things
for which Reverend Graham respects you are good attributes to possess.
Gotta wonder what Mitt Romney promised Billy Graham.
I don't need Mr. Graham's approval to validate my belief. The proof
of being Christian is proved by a persons acts, not by anothers opinion. After
it is no longer a political issue I wonder if the Mormon church is put back on
"The Cult List". If it is, who cares. There will always be people that
think the church is a cult. And nothing you say will prove to them otherwise.
@Meadow Lark Mark.....when was it in History that Christianities goal was for
everyone to "get along" with each other? That's about the last
thing they've ever done. The article seems so silly. Taking the
stripes off a zebra doesn't mean it's not a zebra anymore.
Benevolent religions offer hope, compassion, and want peace for your fellow man
- even the nonbelievers. A destructive cult wants power, money, and
obedience. All the outsiders must be destroyed (Armageddon). I think that's
the big distinction between two different belief systems of high demand cult or
And if Mitt loses the election, the webpage goes right back up...It
is all about power and money. The LDS Church competes with Billy Graham's
income. But Graham wants a voice he can partly control in the Oval Office.
God bless Billy Graham. He is, and always was, a genuinely good man. This
development is further evidence of the same. As for the
differences, John once came to Christ and said, "Master, we saw one casting
out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he
followeth not us. But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which
shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. For he that is
not against us is on our part. For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to
drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall
not lose his reward." Mark 9:38-41 KJVRemember the words of
Christ. Be kinder to each other. Show evidence that His love shines through
Sooner or later everyone sees the fruit of who we are and when it is good there
isn't much else to say.
I frequently hear the term "commander-in-chief" being used in reference
to the president. It is used in such a way as to imply that he is
commander-in-chief of the nation. He is not. He is commander-in-chief of the
U.S. Armed forces in time of war. He does not command the citizenry. He is
chief executive over the nation's adiministrative affairs as a whole. We
don't have a sovereign king or ruler. The president, along with Congress
and the Judiciary) is a servant the people and accountable to us. In the United
States the people as a body are the sovereign.
What a great leader Romney is to seek prayers from a man not of his faith. I
think it speaks truckloads for his character and respect for the religious
rights of others. He's a great candidate and will do our
Billy Graham is a good man, but he isn't God. Probably the "Billy
Graham Evangelistic Association" should recuse itself from having to decide
who is a cult and who is not, and leave that up to God.

make of the following:"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints is the kingdom of God on the earth, but is at the present limited to an
ecclesiastical kingdom. During the millennial era, the kingdom of God will be
both political and ecclesiastical, and will have worldwide jurisdiction in
political realms when the Lord has made 'a full end of all nations'

and 1:14?Can you at least see where those might be of concern to
Politics sure makes strange bedfellows, as the old saying goes.
@Tom in CA"Some pretty shallow and cynical comments above.
"I think there's reason to be cynical though. There are
some faith leaders that seem to be nice about the LDS church when the LDS church
has something they want be it a presidential candidate or support for a ballot
initiative. "Nice PR work Mitt Romney. "The
problem is Mitt Romney also is the cause of a lot of people having reduced
opinions of the LDS church. Not his fault really, that's just what happens
when someone's approval rating is about 50-50. @JiminSLC"And nothing you say will prove to them otherwise."Sadly
so. Even as an ex-mormon myself arguing that the church isn't a cult (one
would think this would be a rather influential position to be in since it's
the demographic stereotyped accurately or not as being most likely to consider
the church a cult) I seem to find pushback in the form of 'you just
don't want to admit you were part of one'. People seem to need to
figure out that a religion/denomination can be wrong without having to be a
Is this entire orchestration about gay marriage? Is it that significant an
issue for Graham and his followers, that they'll do an about-face and
support the candidate who wants to use all the powers of the the federal
government -- a constitutional amendment, even! -- to deny gays the right to
marry?I've been out of the Bible belt for a while, but is it
really that big of an issue there?
Good to see non-LDS Christians coming together with the LDS on some common
grounds. The "War of Words and Tumult of Opinions" is still
alive in many circles, but this is really a Big Step Forward to see a more
"civil" and respectfulattitude developing. Billy Graham's
son, Franklin, was interviewed on Piers Morgan's CNN show the other
night, and he reflected a similar feelingabout accepting Mitt and Mormons
in general in a more positive way, but FranklinGraham came short of
referring to Mormons as fellow "Christians". Piers Morgantried
real hard to get Franklin to agree that Mormons are equal Christians, butFranklin refused to go that far. However, this is a Big step in the
Right direction. The "War of Words and Tumult of Opinions" has
been around for a long time, even before Joseph Smith. In Europe before the USA was even born, Religious Intolerance cost many their very lives.
Especially those who wanted the see the Bible available in the
To Scientist: Again you're mixing what happens at the second coming of the
Lord Jesus Christ. All of that takes place then. If you even cared to read
more carefully you would find that ALL the wicked will be destroyed at that time
that only the MOST righteous will be left alive on earth. It doesn't say
that only members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will be
alive but the most righteous which includes everyone from all different
religions on earth. In the beginning there will be still the same amount of
religions on earth but as millineium becomes the standard then and only then
will there be only one government subject to Jesus Christ. There will still be
a lot of missionary work going on. The thing is the government will be after
the organization of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Christ
WILL be on the earth and will be its KING over all people. In time
only one Church will be left, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
and every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is the Christ.
Christian is as Christian does. If you were accused of being a Christian, would
there be enough evidence convict you?
Google "An Open Letter to Billy Graham Regarding Mitt Romney and
Mormonism." It addresses thoughts on how some Christians have allowed their
patriotism to become an idol worshiped in Jesus' name. It sends a message
that Christians must focus on perceived threats to their earthly kingdom more so
than on threats to the Kingdom of God. Billy Graham removed language from its
website calling Mormonism a cult to AVOID controversy? By doing this, they
jumped right into it.
Bill in NebraskaThat the extermination of nonbelievers will happen
in the future makes no difference. It is still a horrible worldview.
