The Jazz will be competitive this year like they usually are. They have good
bigs, capable shot makers and a bench. What they lack? A superstar. This means
they probably cannot compete with L.A, OKC and San Antonio. I did not include
Dallas because I think they are on a big decline. Then in the East they cannot
compete with Miami. So I think the Jazz are probably in the top 10 best teams
in the league. What I am afraid of is that Ty won't start
Favors. I love Millsap, but you can't let emotion get in the way. We have
seen how far Jefferson and Millsap can take us. I would like to see one or both
traded and plug in Favors and Kanter and let the "future" begin now.
They could certainly get some value back because of the expiring contracts, and
they would still have a good mix of vets to stay competitive. I would rather
sacrifice a few wins and get these guys developed than keep winning enough to
get a 6-8 spot and go out in the first round.
If Corbin won't start Favors then he should be fired. Millsap is leaving as
a free agent and Favors is the future of the franchise. Wake up Ty or you will
be long gone. One game into the start of a new season and your already making
Different year, same story. I'm glad the Aggies will be competitive.
I'll spend my money watching a good team play.
And we've arrived at the day that we await every October when reality comes
crashing down on Jazz fans. This is just like the day every September when
reality comes crashing down on BYU fans. You just lost to the Golden State
Warriors (!!!). You just put up 80 points on the Golden State Warriors (!!!).
With any luck, the Jazz will sneak into the last playoff spot like they do every
year. Without any luck, they're lottery bound.
Brave Sir RobinYou wanted the jazz to tank. As if tanking makes a
team better. Look at the Wizards, Bobcats and Kings. If the jazz don't make
the playoffs which is an impossibility will that make you happy? Would you
rather have your kid get an F than a C+?
John Wicks. They have 1 million dollars on the payroll for next
summer. They can easily resign Millsap if they want.
Brave sir Robin. In case you didn't know, Preseason
doesn't tell you anything about a team. The warriors beat lakers the night
before. Does this mean the Lakers are worse than the Jazz? I think not. Teams
like the Timberwolves can go undefeated in the preseason and not make the
playoffs. That's how meaningful the preseason is.
@Man in ChargeSince I'm not a Jazz fan, yes, it would make me
happy if they don't make the playoffs. And I like how you say the Jazz not
making the playoffs is an "impossibility"....hubris much? Wizards and
Bobcats aren't in the West meaning they have no impact on the Jazz's
final playoff standings, and the Kings aren't the only West team
that's going to miss the playoffs. Name me one other team besides the
Kings that's worse than the Jazz - remember, you can't say Golden
Favors needs to start Corbin. Is he the only one not seeing the future?
@Brave Sir RobinUhm, yes we can easily say Golden State are not as
good as the Jazz. Again it is preseason and anyone who knows anything can tell
you preseason basketball means absolutely nothing.Teams the Jazz
will for sure be better than (in the West)Golden StateSacramentoPortlandPhoenixHoustonNew OrleansMinnesotaThe Jazz will be in the mix with teams like Dallas, LA
Clippers, Memphis, and Denver.
Several of you posters seem to be missing the point about Corbin not starting
Faovrs. For Corbin there is no future...his contract ends with this season. He
is trying to secure a multimillion dollar future and that is done with wins.
Period. We all know the "future" is with Favors but anyone in
this league knows that veterans win games which is why Corbin will do the
short-sighted thing for his own career and go for immediate wins and play
Millsap.Corbin has no security if he loses games, which is not
tolerated in this market, so he will go for the immediate solution and start
Millsap and then try to mesh Favors in for whatever minutes he can pilfer for
him.I hope this short-sighted behavior does not cost us Favors in
the long run. Put yourself in Favors shoes. Does he know he has more athletic
talent and brighter future than Millsap? Yes he does and so does Corbin but we
see Corbin going with the selfish choice trying to protect his job. I guess in
fairness alot of people would do the same thing but nonetheless it will stink
from a fans standpoint.
@ Jazz Source last time I checked Favors played more Minutes than Milsap and
Jefferson though it was just 1 more, as DFav said he doesnt care if he starts as
long as he gets the minutes which looks like he will be getting. And we all know
giving young guys minutes helps them out as well the status of starting means
nothing hey he could start Favors and only play him for 10 minutes a game, fact
is Milsap has gotten better every season every season in scoring, I bet he
scores more per game this year than last im betting his range becomes more
deadly just as his mid range jumper was which will = Beast mode on offense for
@Jazz SourceYou bring up a great point. Corbin needs to win because
he wants his job. I hope he has the stones to start Favors though.@
King BlackOh Favors does care. He may say the right things in front
of the camera, but NBA players have an ego, especially with the skill set he
has.@ Brave Sir RobinYes the Jazz lost to a Golden State
team who played their starters 36 minutes of the game and still barely beat the
Jazz back ups. If pre season mattered, Golden State would be an elite team.
Let me get something straight. You are not a Jazz fan, you don't live in
Utah, but you troll Jazz posts and comment on them. Looks like you need
something to fill your time.
The Warriors are going to be the champions!! They killed the Lakers by 27 and
beat the Jazz by 3.C'mom guys, it is the pre-season. I think
the Jazz have a better team, maybe not super stars...YET, but this could be the
season that one or more of the players could become one, Hayward? Favors?, or
what about a resurrected Marvin Williams?, I think this team has the potential
to surprise people. This year is going to be a great test for Corbin, he has
the pieces, let's see how he use them.
