Investigators look at possibility of 'friendly fire'
''It is what it is''....I think this one statement goes
along way in defining this family. A hug to each and everyone of them.
My sincerest sympathies to the family. I am upset that the mules of
drug dealing cartels can easily enter our nation and kill our citizens and our
law enforcement agents doing the job we entrust them to do.
My heart aches for this family. I remember the feelings well myself. It really
is small comfort, but comfort nonetheless, that he died doing what he loved.
NBC and KSL reported this evening that this may have been a friendly fire
incident between Border Patrol officers. If that turns out to be
correct, this will be an even greater tragedy. But it may also point out the
rampant paranoia that some people exhibit.

exonerate the current Administration against the horrible accusations leveled
against them by many "rampantly paranoid" readers of the DN who have
severely politicized this horrible tragedy.Do you think any will
come back and post apologies?
This is very unfrotunate. Such a dedicated individual with a supportive family.
One more crack in the "thin blue line". The friendly fire possibility
is particularly upsetting.
Friendly fire or not it is a tragedy. The current immigration policies that are
not being enforced at the directive of "Big Sis" didn't help this
either.I saw the initial report while I was in Georgia. The border needs to be closed, a real fence built, and the INS agents given
the means to take care of the druggies. Also a few Apache or F-16 strikes on
mountain top druggie observation posts would make the druggies think twice about
what they do.Put the military on the southern U.S. border. They
wouldn't be enforcing the law, they'd be defending the country, which
is kinda like their job.
'The current immigration policies that are not being enforced at the
directive of "Big Sis" didn't help this either.'Immigration policies have not been enforced consistently by several
Administrations for decades. I, too, think we need to beef up our borders, but
it is a complicated matter. But What sickens me is the ignorant politicizing of
this man's murder and this family's loss by people wrongfully trying
to blame this on the current Administration.
It has now been reported as confirmed by NBC, that the agent was in fact shot
& killed by a fellow agent. No drug smugglers, no Rib Crew, in fact no bad
guys at all in the area. All of which was probably known by 0800 of the day in
question. I feel so lied to and used by the FBI, the CBP, the CCSO and by a host
of reporters either too stupid, too lazy or too conformed to have not pursed the
truth in this matter.
I feel that there should be an investigation into the tragic death of Nicholas
Ivie. The death of Border Patrol Officer Brian Terry involved guns as part of
the U S Fast and Furious Project. We must be sure there was not a
