Wellmike, one thing is for sure, they are better than your ute!
Best QB and coach in the state too.
A weak USU/BYU story. Pretty well repeated what has been talked about for
severl weeks over drinking fountains and microwaves. The math is quite simple
and the writer said it all in his first 10 words. Everyone will know after
Friday night's game. The rest is very old fluff. Filler at best. Both BYU and Utah State played home games against comparable teams this past
weekend. Both looked strong. Last year Utah State kind of surprised BYU. No
surprises this year. Both schools will be primed and ready.I felt
real bad that I couldni't find the Aggie game on TV. Because I was unable
to go to Logan, It would have been nice to see them on the tube.My
take, Utah State has a great chance to win especially if they can force BYU into
field goal attempts.Should be a fun night.
If USU beats Byu then I will give them all the props they so rightly deserve!
But I feel like if BYU wins they end up getting the boot. Simply because they
were a field goal away from tying the game at Utah and that's with how
poorly Riley and the offensive line were playing. Rooting for Cougars! But
Aggies have always been my second favorite in the state! Looking forward to a
If BYU wins by a margin of 3 or 4 points than you have the 1 beat 2 who beat 3
who beat 1 who beat 2 who beat 3 ad infiniteum. But if BYU wins by 12 - 14 or
more, they are clearly the best team in the state. USU barely beat Utah (on an
offensive pass interference penalty on the Utes---game in Logan), Utah barely
beat BYU (on a field goal that clanked off the upright--off a couple inched---in
SLC), so a decisive win on Friday for the Cougars would crown them as best in
the state, USU fans opinions notwithstanding.USU fans can crow all
they want about the best qb, the best coach, etc but the results aren't in
yet. They certainly don't have the TV contracts, largest fan base, decent
stadium, or the biggest program. Last year they snatched defeat from the jaws
of victory several times and have done that once already this year. That's
USU football up to now. I expect a lively game......Just play the
game and then everyone will know who was better on Friday night, Oct 5th.
It was available on watchespn, I went and watched it today, it was a good game!
But UNLV hung with the Aggies for about three full quarters,
@toosmartforyou"snatched defeat from the jaws of victory"Utah 24 BYU 21BSU 7 BYU 6Looks like BYU is a little worse
off as far as snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. Up to now USU is one
missed field goal away from being undefeated... BYU beats up on bad teams and
loses to average and good teams. This game will decide it... I agree that if
BYU runs away with it they will obviously be the best in the state, but if BYU
loses we will hear BYU crow about their coaches and players, and how Utah State
just got lucky... (Its not lucky anymore)Other note: I won't
say anything about coaches, Wit, Bronco and Gary are all great coaches, but as
far as quarterbacks go, Chuckie Keeton is the best quarterback in the state.
Regardless of who wins Friday.
@ TrueBlueAggie25Yes, BYU has lost a few close games, too. Like the
one in Texas last year, and admitidly the ones against Boise and Utah thus year.
But they are two playas away (USU 1 play away) from being 5-0. Wouldn't
it be sweet if both teams were 5-0 going into Friday night? I think you'll
see BYU beat an average team on Friday so you can no longer say they lose to
Vegas has yet to put out a line on this game. That should tell you how
unpredictable this game is. I expect USU to be in the lead at half
time, strugle in the 3rd and finish strong.Go Big Blue!!!
@Go Big Blue!!!"Vegas has yet to put out a line on this game.
That should tell you how unpredictable this game is."Actually,
what it tells you is that Vegas has no idea this game is even taking place. And
I agree with your username - Go Michigan!
Mike,Have you forgotten the Wagon Wheel trophy that goes to the winner of
the BYU-USU game each year, or has it been retired? Unless it's for
basketball, not sure on that.
@ toosmartforyou Even if BYU beats USU they still will have lost to
2 average teams. Boise & Utah.
Why is this even an article right now? I like Utah State and I root for them in
every game there not playing BYU. I think Utah State is a good team for sure and
they'll be up for the game but if BYU has a healthy quarterback whether
it's Nelson or Hill I give us the edge.Let's look at this,
Utah State beat Utah in overtime at there place. BYU loses to Utah at 3 at Utah
which makes a big difference, our quarterback was at 60% and 5 turnovers and
still almost won on the road. Would Utah State have been in that game in the
same situation, I don't think so. But you can also look at that Utah State
is 4-1 and BYU is 3-2, with similar competition. If Riley would have thought of
the team instead of himself going into the Utah game and Boise game, we probably
win both of those games. Bottom line for Utah state to win they have to win the
turnover battle, and to me that doesn't mean a team is better. If they beat
us straight up then they are.
Las Vegas has BYU by 10. All this talk is a waste. The game will
be decided Friday night. Players make plays Players win Games.GO U
