Glad the game is in LES, and it is only a game. My observation has been that BYU
competitions in Logan are anything but family friendly. Aggie fans ridicule BYU
for being holier than thou by being unholier than thou, it's a self
validating accusation. Events such as these don't change character, they
reveal character. Under age drinking slows brain development, case in point....
The April General Priesthood meeting is the tough one for the college sports
fan. I can't remember the last time I didn't have to choose between
attending Priesthood Meeting, or watching the NCAA Final Four round.It's Satan's fault, I'm sure!(-;
I hope they keep the BYU-USU rivalry going. A 2-for-1 home schedule in
BYU's favor isn't going to last though, I don't think the Aggies
would be okay with it. I realize BYU needed some extra home games after going
indy, but they will need to go 1-and-1, or perhaps 3-for-2 if the Aggies
recognize that by playing in Provo, they make a lot more money given the gate
and the TV audience.
Madden "A 2-for-1 home schedule in BYU's favor isn't going to last
though, I don't think the Aggies would be okay with it."The
Mountain West won't be OK with it in October. The Y will have to settle
for 1-for-1 or move the Provo game to preseason to replace Utah.
I have been to LES a few times. My observation is that there are just as many
disrepectful fans from the Y as anywhere else in Utah. Many of the posts in the
DN from Cougar fans highlight this fact.
Not sure how family-friendly it is considering it starts after my kids are
usually in bed.Perhaps I will DVR it so we can all watch it during
@ Go Big BlueThere are definitely disrespectful fans at BYU, but
there are not nearly as many and they are not nearly as disrespectful as Utah
State fans. You would never see numerous signs ridiculing a player of the
opposing team because he made a bad moral choice. Ute fans are the least classy
in the state.
Romney Stadium seats 25,000.LaVell Edwards Stadium seats 65,000.Until the Aggies build a larger stadium and a fan base large enough to
fill it, there's no legitimate reason why BYU should be trekking up to
Logan more than once every three years to lose over a $1 million in gate
Riddles in the Dark "Until the Aggies build a larger stadium and a fan base
large enough to fill it, there's no legitimate reason why BYU should be
trekking up to Logan more than once every three years to lose over a $1 million
in gate receipts."If that is true than Utah State will end this
rivalry when they join the MWC or the game will be moved to preseason. There is
no team in the MWC that will play USU in August to accommodate BYU in October.
BYU agreed to a one-for-one with Middle Tennessee State which holds 30,000. If
BYU agrees to a one-for-one with a Sun Belt team, I think they will have to do
that with USU. Who needs the game more? Thanks to the independence move, it is
BYU for sure.Really sad that BYU tucked tail and ran. I think they
left the MWC because they were worried they couldn't compete with Boise
State, TCU, Nevada, etc. The LDS Church isn't hurting for money, BYU could
have stayed in the MWC and the rivalry game would be the last game of the week
with USU, but they had to prove they are every bit as big as the U of U by
proclaiming their independence and watering down their schedule in the hopes of
backing into a BCS game--so sad.BYU independence--GO WITH IT!
@HemlockIt's an in-state rivalry. Surely you don't think
that all the 'classless' fans are at USU and the U of U. Also, you
can't blame Aggie fans for being more than a little 'put out'
about the way things have gone because of BYU over the years. In the 60's
they helped to keep USU out of the WAC. They decided to 'share' the
color USU was already wearing. They decided to recruit one of USU's QBs
(although, in hindsight, not such a big deal.) They helped to delay USU entry
into the MWC by a couple of years. People up North are a little testy about
BYU. BYU has kind of been like an overbearing relative and to add insult to
injury, there is zero respect for the Aggies from many BYU fans even though the
game in recent years is always pretty close.
@ HemlockPretty hilarious to mock Utah State fans for thinking BYU
fans are "holier than thou" when you start by saying BYU fans are, well,
holier than Utah State fans. Talk about self-validation.
@Hoopty6Your kids are "in bed" at 8pm? On a Friday?@wildcatYou prove once again that you live in a fantasy world.
That prediction of weber beating BYU in basketball last year and football this
year back it up.LOL!
