If 23% is the average rate for the above $250,000 income types, does that make
Romney a 47 percenter of that income type since he is paying less and therefore
dependent on government subsidy.
Almost half of filers make lesss than $30,000 per year, and the concern is that
the rich pay too much in taxes?
Obama and the Democrats are out of touch with economic realities and the facts
pointed out in this article prove it beyond any doubt! If Romney will just tell
Americans the truth, like this, he can’t possibly lose this election! Let
Obama whine about the rich not paying their “fair share” and all
Romney has to do is use these facts! Can’t wait for the debate!
Taxes are based on a percentage of earnings not a set dollar amount per person.
Someone that earns $1,000,000 and pays $100,000 in taxes has paid 10%. Someone
that earns $50,000 and pays $8,000 in taxes has paid 16%. Who paid the more in
taxes? per dollar amount, the first, per percentage, the latter.I
suspect that the author did not grasp the lesson to be learned in the parable of
the "Widows Mite".
dear mitt and wealthy people,I apologize there are so many lazy and
unresponsible people that they you should pay for what they use. When
you and I drive on the road, our cars do the same amount of damage to the
roads. Therefore we should pay the same to fix the road.Just bercause you are rich, this does not mean your car do 1000 times the
damage that my car does.I apologize again for lazy people who want
to use govt resources but only pay a fraction of what they use. This
is wrong.and lazy. And immoral to demand others pay for
what they use.
When the consumers out number the producers,--corrupt leaders are elected.* Let him who paid more than two million cast the first stone.*
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors success* Thou shalt not steal*
thou shalt not lieAmerica is great, because America is good.Lets keep our focus to goodness.
So asking for the population to pay more fair tax rate is wrong because the
people that make more pay more? The amount paid in taxes is irrelevant. I make
more money this year than I did last year and I'll pay more in taxes
because of it and I am happy for that. The ultra wealthy acting like
victims because their 20% is millions of dollars will get no sympathy from me. I
do have an issue with people getting more back in taxes than they are putting
in, though. Maybe the problem we are facing has more to do with how
many people are making such a pittance for wages. Worker wages aren't
keeping up with inflation. Corporate profits are sky rocketing while they are
cutting the wages of their workers who have managed to not be laid off. Maybe if
people were treated better by their millionaire employers, there wouldn't
be so much scorn directed at them.
When the 1% owns 80% of Everything - they SHOULD be paying 80%+ of the taxes. And if the the 1% is complaining about having to pay all the taxes, then they should think to pay "the Help" more than their wages to live
on, then "the Help" could do more to pay their own way.You can only collect taxes with money.so common sense should tell you,
You can't tax those who have NO money.
To "LDS Liberal" lets look at the stats on the top 1%. According to the
NY Times and various other sources the top 1% own 40% of the wealth in the US.
However, we do not tax people based on their wealth, but their income. If we
look at their income, they take home 16% of all income in the US.Ok,
now we know how much they own, and how much they earn. Lets look at what percent
they pay of all federal income taxes. According to the the IRS, those same top
1% pay 40.4% of all income taxes in 2011. So, according to your reasoning, the
rich pay their fair share.Since they pay their fair share according
to your standards, does this mean that you will no longer complain about the
taxes that the wealthy pay?Can you please pass that along to
Obama. The problem isn't that the wealthy are complaining about
their tax rates. It is the greedy among the poor that are complaining. The
poor have been given a free dinner and are now complaining that they don't
get a bowl of ice cream with it too.
fair share == 100%
This article is incomplete, in that it needs to provide what percentage of
wealth the 13% hold. If that 13% (wage earners about $100k) holds more than 87%
of the countries wealth, then they should contribute that percentage of taxes,
even more. When the top 1/2 of 1% of the population make more money than the
lowest 50% of the population combined, then that 1/2 or 1% should bear the
burden of taxes.
To bad there isn't a law that requires you pay Federal Tax to be able to
vote. If you don't have "Skin" in the game you shouldn't be
allowed to play (vote).Benjamin Franklin quote (1706-1790)Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty
is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. When the people find that
they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic. They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary
safety deserve neither safety nor liberty.Where liberty dwells,
there is my country.
Joey D,I could support that concept, because in Utah that would
change things dramatically. There are a lot of folks out there because of their
large family size and relatively low wages who are paying no taxes at all. I
would be willing to bet most are going to vote republican. Your suggestion
could give us a two party state finally.
To "Fred44" Utah already has 2 political parties. Last time I checked,
there were Utah Republicans and Democrats. Why do you dispariage people from
voting for the political party that most reflects their values?Do
you also complain that California, New York, and Massachusetts are Democrat
states? Should their governments be required to have more Republicans? Why do you want to alter Utah Politics to be more like the states that are
