It is really exciting to finally see a real school "community" learning center that has a physical presence in Utah. It is also perhaps, though, sad and somewhat of a melancholy statement of how long and convoluted the process of educational reform takes. Nearly a generation of students have had to survive or not without this visionary concept. More than a quarter of century ago this idea was espoused by various educational proponents but fell apparently on deaf ears. It's too bad that both governmental, business leaders and the public were not able to forge ahead together and put education first as a hope for our future. Perhaps that will now change as a community in Davis County puts the full force of its multi-diverse resources together where it is needed most.
