Ahhhhh, if only it could come to be!
Because the decline of the family is a function of the mature money economy, I
look forward to the day when Mitt Leveraged-Buyout Romney takes the first step
toward reversing this decline by thumbing his nose at the global economy and
promoting local ones.
I am a devote liberal, but as I thought through the questions posed in the
article, I can’t help but wonder what specifically it had to with the
Romney family. I believe that near all people in the US single, married or
otherwise agree with your premises. I also believe that the next white house
family WILL meet the intended criteria of the model family you so narrowly
What Mitt Romney are the Eryes talking about, it cetainly dosen't sound
like the Mitt Romney that is running for president; as they suggest it must just
be a dream in their head. As far as being a good family man, President Obama
seems to meet that criteria, are the Eryes too blinded by their own prejudices
to see that. Maybe if Obama were Mormon.
skeptic: You state that President Obama seems to meet all the criteria. Maybe
you purposely missed that the major part was the PROTECTION OF THE TRADITIONAL
FAMILY. In this not only does Obama miss he literally is totally against.
President elect Romney on the other hand does meet the criteria much better and
entirely where no Democrat can now and definitely not in the near future.
Protection of the traditional is paramount to a society. That leaves all others
as against a society. Unfortunately, death, divorce and other things hurts the
traditional family. Until you and others of like mind understand the
traditional family and the part it plays in any society. You will never
understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Bill in Nebraska: It seems some Mormon peoples interpretation of a traditional
family is similar to some Muslim interpretation where the women have no rights
to divorce, contraception, control over their own bodies and where the men
(husbands) are the controlling patriarch in charge of the family lives. It was
never a good system, and times are changing. Women are gaining equal rights and
one day the priesthood, and that will make for a better family live and society.
I hope you will be OK with it.
RE: Bill in Nebraska, Catholic Vote supports Romney’s family values. We
have life, marriage and religious liberty at the top of the list, because these
issues are foundational. And on life, marriage and religious liberty, Mitt
Romney is immeasurably better than Barack Obama. But not Mormonism.
As non-Catholic historians admit, it can be demonstrated easily that early
Church writers, such as Ignatius of Antioch, Eusebius, Clement of Rome, and
Polycarp, had no conception of Mormon doctrine, and they knew nothing of a
"great apostasy." Nowhere in their writings can one find
references to Christians embracing any of the peculiarly Mormon doctrines, such
as polytheism, polygamy, celestial marriage, and temple ceremonies. If the
Church of the apostolic age was the prototype of today’s Mormon church, it
must have had all these beliefs and practices. But why is there no evidence of
them in the early centuries, before the alleged apostasy began?
