While I love BYU sports (especially Basketball and Football), and I respect
Jabari's desire to be in a good LDS environment, I have to be honest and
say that he would be doing himself a disservice by attending BYU if the hype
about his potential is to be believed. He should go to a top school, get a great
eduation (including a first-rate basketball education) and go on to the pros.
There is always institute to keep his spiritual flame alive and attending
institute will also give him friends who share his values. He would be an
excellent missionary at a non-LDS school and he seems to have the demeanor to
make that happen. The selfish BYU fan in me would love to see him at BYU, but I
think he should go elsewhere.
I'd love to see Jabari at BYU but wouldn't be surprised if he went
elsewhere with all the great choices he has. I just hope he gets a degree. If he
is injured or for some unknown reason doesn't make it in the NBA, he will
need a degree to get ahead. And if he is a hit in the NBA, he'll be better
prepared to manage his life and money with a 4-year degree. Just saying...And am I the only BYU fan who wishes we didn't have to hark back to
1990 to see our biggest day in football history?? Why aren't we up there
with Utah, BSU and TCU with 2 BCS Bowl wins in the last decade?
Even without Jabari, BYU already has a Top 5 recruiting class. With him, BYU
would have the number 1 recruiting class for 2013. All-in-all, Dave Rose has
done a fantastic job of building a great program and the future of BYU
basketball is indeed bright.
eastcoastcoug Danbury, CTAre you a BYU fan that denies the validity
of 1984 and the success in the 90's? And do you acknowledge that success
that is less than a bcs bowl win is still success and not a failure?Because around here, we call those guys "trolls".
@y grad / y dadyeah cause playing in the las vegas bowl year in and
year out and the helicopter bowl sure measures up to WINNING (not just playing
in) two bcs bowl games *rolls eyes* haha yeah its only success to your
delusional fan base. maybe thats why you havent been invited to an elite
conference yet. you keep being content with your helicopter bowl and utah will
enjoy their new conference. btw not a utah or byu fan.
