How great to be judged "pitch perfect" - by a campaign consultant.
She's going to lose.
Maybe Mia Love will lose, but Matheson is untrustworthy to carry out his
promises when he gets back in Washington and under the thumb of the radical
leftists who control his party. Our country, and the future of our
children and grandchildren really NEED strong fiscal conservatives like Mia Love
in Congress to do the tough work ahead of us. Not career politicians who say
one thing at home, and do another when voting in the House (unless given
permission by Pelosi to vote the "right" way so he can be reelected.Mia Love for Congress!
Mia Love is Matheson's worst nightmare. While she shines at the Republican
convention, he runs from the Democratic Convention. Hilarious.
@dnsubscriber. Do you mean career politicians like Hatch, Boehnor, Mconnell, etc
or just the ones who do not agree with your political views.
After all these years of political gamesmanship from Matheson, Mia is a breath
of fresh air. I can't imagine how anyone could not vote for her.I hope Utahns are FINALLY on to Jim Matheson.
Those who watched the Republican convention know what was said and it does not
match what the news outlets of the left say happened. I can only assume that
Mitt and Ann Romney, Artur Davis, Ted Cruz, and Mia Love terrify them so badly
that they have lost all sense of reason. It is certainly obvious that Mia Love
is a star.
Shaun: Definitely just the ones who do not agree with my political views. For what it is worth, however, I am strongly in favor of term limits for
politicians. I'd propose 12 years service in congress in any combination
plus two terms as president for a total of 20 years in national public service.
Again, Matheson is good but he has to tap dance and juggle at the same time with
his party and do what Utahn's in his district want him to do. That is not
the way to represent our Utahns that live in his district. He can't stand
on the top of pudding and think he is not going to slip when dealing for his
constituents. Mia Love is not seasoned as Jim Matheson is but she
has the ability to do more than he does. Even though he keeps on winning with a
change in his district periodically, it is not the most beneficial to have his
vote really be forthright. With his party's leadership, he can't
represent the best. He may get funds due to the President wanting votes from
Utah, it is a state that both President Clinton and this President leave off the
list of favorable states. We need a Mia Love that will do her best. She knows
she is blessed to live in this great United States of America and shows her
appreciation by running for office for our citizens.
"strong fiscal conservatives like Mia Love in Congress to do the tough work
ahead of us."Mia Love has implemented infinitely greater
increases in taxes in Saratoga Springs than Matheson has EVER voted for in
Congress. Fiscal Conservative?? That's a good joke!
JWB.... I will disagree with you to this extent. Both parties need balance in
their memberships. If we keep down this slide of only the most polarizing
people get elected going forward, the grid lock we see today will be just a fond
memory of the past. Both parties (and mostly the citizens of this nation) were
best served when we have a vibrant group of Blue Dog Democrats and moderate
Conservatives that dared to occasionally vote against their parties when it was
the right thing to do. The gap between the parties and grown further apart,
resulting in poor legislation by both sides.Obamacare was bad
because it was not a true compromise. The votes the house has are a complete
waste of time because they are voted on more on party line rhetoric than fixing
any problems. No alternative has been put forward. No "fixes" have
been put forward. Just immatures "no" votes in an attempt to score
political points rather than actually fix a known problem. So I think
having a moderating voice in the Democratic party is a good thing. Someone they
can't always count on to play the party card.
I would like to be impressed with this article -- but I find it one of the more
condescending new reports in the recent news cycle. If a middle-aged white guy
said any of this in public, I doubt it would get much attention. Ms Love does
speaks well, nearly as well as Our President. Yet the same question applies to
both him and her: what can they DO in government?
Strangely, I was impressed, when I heard from Obama a long time ago when he was
running. Then I got very disappointed !Now with Mia, I again am
impressed !. I do identify with her story because it is similar to what I went
through when I came here.I knew that I could do better *here* than where I
came from.I served this country and was proud of what I did in return of
the hospitality the USA provided me.I do have a bit more faith in
her because at least, she has very little in common with a Law Degree ...Let's hope that she will not forget what we as *soldiers* have sacrificed
for the freedom of this great country.
So this is the same fiscal conservative who increased property taxes three times
in Saratoga Springs for a 110% increase? The same conservative who pulled in
many Federal dollars in grant money for the city? And the same
conservative who decries taxes, tax increases, and any Federal spending? The same conservative who will say what she has to say to fool people
into voting for her?Yeah, right.
I watcher her whole speech. It was political raw raw with no substance.Just catch phrases, and bumper stickers slogans. What Will you do
Mia? Jason we're still waiting for him to do anything but phone it in. Mike lee seems to be keeping a low profile, wonder why?The big
banner in the back that said "We build this" and then the National debt
clock nearby, oddly accurate of the republicans.Matheson isn't
going to the democratic convention because it's nothing but
"preachin' to the choir" and accomplishes nothing more than self
aggrandizing money changing, exactly like the republican convention. Matheson is
a smart man to recognize this, in both parties.
@JWB"That is not the way to represent our Utahns that live in his
district. "Well it seems like his constituents seem to like how
he's been representing them since he keeps winning.
Sorry I missed Mia Love's rah-rah speech (not "raw raw," HVH, or is
that actually what you meant?) Anyway, I watched the evening speeches and saw
highlights from a few others. My goodness, that was rare drama last night. There
was so much good fiction being spouted I'm sure I could win a Nobel Prize
in literature if I could just get it all down on paper.
i'm so embarrassed for Mia. this is affirmative action at it's finest.
(sorry i'm strongly opposed to it.) i believe that she is nothing more
than a black female political pawn. so sad.
@happymomto9"i'm so embarrassed for Mia. this is
affirmative action at it's finest. (sorry i'm strongly opposed to it.)
i believe that she is nothing more than a black female political pawn. so
sad."To me what is sad is that whenever a minority recognizes
and speaks out regarding the greatness of the real America--freedom, personal
resposibility, opportunity through hard work and the free market system, as
opposed to the liberal, socialistic "hand-out" system--they are
immediately branded as "political pawns".
Heretic has obviously never listened to a teleprompter speech from our supreme
leader if he criticizes Mayor Love on substance. As a former Matheson (and
Obama) voter, it is refreshing to have someone with a vision of the future. The
mainstream press has dropped all pretense of journalist professionalism and now
is now in the undisguised elect-Obama mode. When a Black conservative speaks
they are insulted as black female pawns, it's liberal racism at its worst.
The truth is, females and minorities are considered good only if they are left
@isrred & one old manSo, you are saying that Mia raised taxes,
brought in a lot of federal grant money, etc. in Saratoga Springs. I see that
one of you is from Ogden, the other from Logan. It's interesting that you
would both know so much about what the mayor did in a relatively small city
50-100 miles away from your place of residence--I am not saying you are being
untruthful, but I would be very interested in hearing what the people from
Saratoga Springs have to say about it.What say ye, Saratoga Springs
residents?Re the "federal money", I am very much against
federal "welfare" programs, but I take Social Security and use Medicare
because I have been forced to pay into them for many years. I am sure that many
mayors, governors, etc., find themselves in the same situation--they would much
prefer to keep their own money and use it as they see fit, but they are forced
to send a lot of $ to Washington, so they "play the game". It often
creates a real dilemna for conservatives.
Love is the type of strong speaker and moving figure we need in congress. She
has young, innovative ideas. It is time for a new gaurd in congress, time to
put out people who have been there since last century.
Utah Businessman -- Yes, I live in Ogden. I was just pointing out the hypocrisy
of Love's rhetoric and her actions. And "forced" to pay
into Social Security? Thanks goodness I was because about half of my other
"savings" in Mutual Funds disappeared under the "leadership" of
President Cheney and his little buddy.Sensible Americans don't
think of it as being "forced" into anything. We view it as an insurance
premium. One we can be pretty sure will be honored when we need it -- unlike
health insurance premiums which may disappear in a flash when the company
declares us ineligible due to a pre-existing condition or some other excuse.
@one old man"And "forced" to pay into Social Security?
Thanks goodness I was because about half of my other "savings" in Mutual
Funds disappeared under the "leadership" of President Cheney and his
little buddy."I guess my mind is going--I do not remember a
@Utah BusinessmanYou must not have been paying attention for the
eight years preceding Obama. But I hear it's mostly available on Youtube.
metamoracoug; As a conservative Independent, I heartily endorse your
term limit proposal. Now how do we get the BOZOs on capitol hill to vote
Old Man;Nothing is ever the fault of a Liberal. So the
mutual funds in your 401K disintegrated? Who elected those funds instead of
some nice conservative government bonds? (All 401K's need to have a range
of risk options.) You did. You took the risk, you lost, now you blame a
President and Vice President for your losses? Typical. Grow a pair.
(massive eye roll) When a black person at a republican gathering is
NOT a huge deal, get back to me.I still disagree with her. Getting
rid of the EPA and DOE is just a dumb idea.
Bifftacular says "While she shines at the Republican convention, he runs
from the Democratic Convention." Well, I think it's interesting that in
Utah Democrats try to distance themselves from the National Democrats and their
platform while Utah Republicans do everything they can to show how they align
with the National GOP and its platform. Personally, I think the Utah Democrats
have it right and they are being honest in what they are doing. The Utah GOP is
showing that Utah is not a unique state and does things in its own Utah way and
has for years but wants to now align itself with National politics that do not
serve the people of Utah well. Utah democrats have learned to think for
themselves. It's time Utah Republicans do the same.
I'm loving all the liberal rationalizing on these posts. When someone
knocks it out of the park and what she says is not in your personal self
interest as a left-winger, I guess you have to come up with all these silly
comments to try and discredit her.Pretty funny! Go Mia!
P.S. Obviously all the Democrat precinct chairs have had their talking points
texted to them.
