Awesome. Good to know that there is still some decency left out there. KSL
knows its viewers and this show would have received such a low rating of viewers
that it will do much better showing something else.Whoever made the
decision has the thanks of my entire family!
KSL, do you EVER watch these shows that you broadcast?Dr Phil (Jerry
Springer with a touch of fake psychiatry) Law & Order SVU (sexual
situations are the basis for this entire series)You are all as bad
as Larry Miller, who wouldn't show "Brokeback Mountain" in his
theaters, but instead showed a sexual-masochistic near X-rated chop-em-up piece
of filth called HOSTEL.
Head in the sand is a good business decision in utah.
"Simpson cited crude dialogue, explicit content and offensive
characterizations as underlying reasons KSL will not air 'The New
Normal."I just watched the extended preview and I have to say I
can totally see why KSL would determine this show to have more crude dialogue
and explicit content compared to such uplifting shows like day of our lives,
grimm and Dr Phil. KSL has the right to decide what it wants to air
but at least try to be honest about your motivations.
NBC should pull its affiliation with KSL. KSL will not show Saturday Night Live
either. If you refuse to play their shows, you should not be part of the NBC
You show Dr Phil and Law & Order SVU, just two of your showings that feature
sex and reports of violence in every show.Larry Miller woudn't
show Brokeback Mountain, but he showed HOSTEL instead ... a film full of sexual
violence that many other theaters refused to show.Violence is
OK"Like my 91-year-old daddy always said: "It's OK to cut
off a [body part], just don't kiss it.";
Great job!Keep up the good work guys!No need to support
such things.Although accepted, it is not normal.Yay!
Yeah KSL! Orem Parent's comment was outstanding :o)
Let's be real about this show and why it won't be aired in Utah. The
New Normal centers around a gay couple having a baby with a surrogate mother.
It's produced by gay producer Ryan Murphy (Glee),and the lead actor played
Elder Price in the Book of Mormon on Broadway. Three strikes...you're
out!Like it or not family structures are changing and shows like
"Modern Family" on ABC, "The New Normal" on NBC, and the
upcoming " The Fosters" on ABC are reflecting that change.
Great job KSL! It's time to start cleaning up the filth that is on TV now
libs:sorry to inform you, but the content is NOT NORMAL. good luck and
thanks ksl for making that decision. nbc is in the tank for obama and is in the
tank for meaningful shows
Thank you KSL!To Hutterite:This is a great business
decision that has nothing to do with KSL management having their heads in the
sand. It is called positioning and branding and is little more than business
101. With so many media outlets taking the other side of this trade, the market
is "long" outlets that will provide this culturally caustic material,
and there is little for KSL to gain by crowding the trade further. Instead,
they chose to offer an alternative to their target market that many will happily
buy, and enhanced their brand message and value. Great business sense if you
Thank you, Jeff. Thank you KSL, for your decision here. This show could not be a
"new" normal but rather an extreme version of someone's fantasy.
The concept concerns me deeply. "Normal" suggests representation of the
general population and culture. This show is not that.Television is
struggling to find real entertainment and these extremes just aren't
cutting it for me. Thank you, again, KSL, for your efforts.
non believer is correct.KSL should just drop its network affiliation.KSL should become an all-LDS channel for the faiithful, and let another
corporation come in that has no bias against certain issues.
To the unreasonable person:KSL's decision has nothing to do
with bias or any one issue. They understand their audience, and want to deliver
product that will meet that need. NBC programming is not take it or leave it.
Much of their programming is fantastic. Just because one program is not a good
fit for KSL's target segment, doesn't mean KSL should bow to a
clattering, vocal, tiny portion of the population who has an axe to grind with a
segment of the population that would prefer a bit more traditional values tilt
to the programming.BTW - there are many ways to see this low-brow
comedy. You don't need to rely solely on KSL. Enjoy.
There is so much crud on all TV these days that there's hardly anything
worth watching. Thank goodness for PBS!And any time any station
pulls the plug on any of the sewage that passes for entertainment these days, I
say more power to them.
As long as KUTV continues to air NCIS & NCIS: LA; I could care less.
@ one old man 1:22 p.m. Aug. 25, 2012Ogden, UTThere is so much crud
on all TV these days that there's hardly anything worth watching.
"Thank goodness for PBS!"Other than the British comedies on
Ch 7, what on PBS is so wonderful?
Normal is another persons definition of whats socially acceptable. So, for all giving KSL props, don't be such tool boxes.
@ Reasonable Person 8:51 a.m. Aug. 25, 2012Then, why do KBYU &
My only question is to Justin Bartha: After being such a fun and
charming 'Riley' what the heck are you doing wasting your talent on
To Hank Pyn. What on PBS is so wondeful. How about the frontline series. All
of the ones I have viewed have been well done and informative. The one titled
Money Power and Wall Street should be required viewing for every American who
thinks free marker economics will cure all that is wrong with our economy.
What a great expose on the corruption within our financial institutions. And no
I am not a socialist or Liberal. Back on track kudos to KSL for refusing to air
The New Normal. I suspect it will go the way of the Playboy CLub.
@ NeilTThere is nothing on PBS (other than BritComs) that you could
not find in some other form on The Science Channel , The Nat Geo Channel, CSPAN,
or Bloomberg. And, oh yeah. No Ridiculous pledge drives where you can
donate $120 to get a $15 DVD!
I am glad KSL did this. How else would the predominant religious members know
how to choose not to watch this on their own? While you are at it KSL, why not
implement a device that only allows LDS members to watch your TV station and
listen to your radio station?
Why is everyone making such a big deal out of this. This show won't last
much beyond what the Playboy Club did. It is doomed for failure.
Just have to weigh in. BRAVO KSL for having the courage to stand up on this and
thank you for appreciating the family time on television. Millions of parents
around the country prefer to NOT watch course language and explicit content with
their children. Please continue to preserve the values that most of us hold
onto. GOOD JOB!
Re: Fry Sauce West Valley, UT"How else would the predominant religious
members know how to choose not to watch this on their own?"Your
comment presupposes that members of the LDS faith are the only ones who believe
in morality. They aren't. Decent people of all faiths teach their
children morality, and then set an example they can follow.I
appreciate the decision KSL made. It represents the wishes of the majority of
