Another Mitt Romney success story! Go Mitt!!!
He bailed out the SLC olympics, and the venues are still making money for the
state! The man might know what he's doing.
Maybe it's time to do away with the "Host Country" model and spread
the various events to venues that already exist in places that are already
accustomed and equipped to handle the various events. Every year, we have to
"re-invent" all the wheels to make this thing happen when suitable
places already exist in numerous places. Just a thought.
Someone will have to remind me of the "Deep Recession" experienced by
Salt Lake City after 2002.
Usable venues is NOT a Mitt Romney success story. Many of the venues were built
between when we lost the 1998 games and were awarded the 2002 games. And, the
sheer number of venues needed is smaller for a winter Olympics vs a Summer
games. Our speedskating oval is the training HQ for the US Speedskating team.
Before they moved to SLC, they trained in Calgary, because there was not a
sufficient ice sheet in the US. Out luge track is one of only 3 in the country,
and the one in the best condition. Other than these venues, every other venue
has other uses they were originally built for. But, they were built before Mitt
came to town, and their future was planned before Mitt came to town.
Bob, we get it. You didn't build that! What else do you have to offer the
discussion, oops, I mean your bashing of Romney?Without
Romney's experience I highly doubt there would have been a surplus after
the Games. You know, those endowments to keep the facilities working in top
notch condition and available for use for everyone.Thank goodness
the government built the roads and bridges!
