"It also leaves out millions, including the parents and other relatives of
the youths who qualify for the reprieve."Here it comes. Outside
the Supreme court on a plaque it reads " "Equal Justice Under Law"
Obamas piecemeal executive order is just a part of the pro illegal agenda, that
won't stop until they get amnesty for all and open borders.
The only "comprehensive" immigration reform this country needs is more
and better enforcement. It's time to stop pandering to and rewarding those
who break our laws. The only immigrants that should be in the United States are
the ones who were admitted lawfully.
According to this article, the MSM is finally holding the
"president's" feet to the fire on an issue. Keep it up. You may
have a chance to survive by regaining the trust you've lost in your
Obama's policy : amnesty for all with a pledge for votes in next election.
Romney's policy : go back home and come to America the legal
"Imperious immediacy of interest" is a frequent cause of unintended
consequences. And immigration reforms of the past are filled with both.Let's not start a new cycle of unequaled unlawful presence by rewarding
bad behavior. The world is smaller due to air travel and technology. The
next wave of third world illegal immigration will make the last 20 years look
like a picnic. 165 million people would rather live here than their home
country. 36 million Mexicans want to live here. Half of them don't care
how they accomplish it.Do we really want to signal a lack of resolve now
just to get a few votes in November?Just say no.
American need to realize that the USA's immigration policies, both illegal
and LEGAL are one and the same: a massive, gradual, cheap-labor policy designed
to give any employer (whether looking for blue-collar or white-collar workers)
tons of options to underbid USA workers provide many options for employers to
hire with wages that are well under market value. "If this means that
millions of Americans be moved into unemployment to accomplish this task, then
so be it" the policy states. Employers don't need illegal labor to
accomplish this, although illegal labor is not beyond many of these
employers' options. The legal immigration policies of the USA accomplish
the same thing. For example, the H-1B visa is a visa that is used frequently in
the information technology sector. Today, almost 40% of IT workers in the USA
are foreign workers on the H-1B visa. Since this visa is owned by the employer,
the employer has more direct control over the worker. This puts USA citizens at
a distinct disadvantage, and hence employers almost always choose them over a
competing USA worker.
Step right up folks I'll buy your votes. Thats right your vote will buy you
a place in the system that gives you every thing you ever wanted. Free this Free
that. Thats right folks step right up. Lines from the Snake oil salesman recipe.
More on visas:Just over a decade ago, in the IT sector of the USA,
around 20% were foreign workers on the H-1B visa. Now, just over a decade later,
it is nearly double that - proof that the visa has and continues to be a program
designed to move USA "free market" workers out of the technology field
and into other fields, so that employers only have to hire "de facto"
indentured servant foreign workers on visas. Again, these visas are owned by the
employer and hence they control the worker much more.I am not
against workers coming to the USA to better their lives. And, certainly, legal
immigration is preferable to illegal immigration. It is the non-free market,
cheap-labor visa programs of the USA (employers and government - both created
this) that are gradually moving USA workers into poverty by providing a non-free
market solution (employer-owned visas) for employers to gain all the cheap labor
they want.People. This is your nation's "policies".
These policies work against you, if you are an American worker. Legal or
illegal, these policies are the same: cheap labor. These practices are not just
in IT anymore.
Adding to what Utes Fan said. Under Federal immigration and labor law a person
from another country can only be hired if there are no Americans to take the job
locally at market wages. Not only is our government and business
going after American families with illegal immigration, but they are not
enforcing our legal visa laws.
Bryan is right the only reform we need is enforcement of our current laws. If
we would simply enforce laws related to hiring undocumented workers the problem
would be solved. Capitalism is built on the law of supply and demand. If we
end the demand for cheap labor, the supply will also end. Lets go after the
businesses that are causing the demand because they want to hire the cheapest
labor possible. This way you won't even need a fence and we can put
millions of Americans back to work. This is a win/win solution.
Utes Fan and RRB,Don't hate the immigrant. If an employer is
exploiting the H1b or L visa, hate the employer, but not the immigrant. I would suggest that legal immigration, especially the highly skilled are
a net boon to the economy. They open businesses, create jobs, create technology
that opens more businesses, and add beneficial diversity. I
personally know two businesses recently opened by foreigners on investment
visas. Each employs numerous US citizens including providing jobs for teenagers
desperate for summer work. IT has been an area exploited with the
H1b visa. USCIS is stepping up enforcement and also denying many visas to these
IT sweatshops. Hopefully, such actions will free up the H1b for other
businesses who will use the visa properly.
Romney is talking in code just like Obama when it comes to bringing in more
needed workers.Engineers, scientists and programmers all know what that
means. When are we going to see a candidate step forward with a bit of
This idea that America should open its doors to anyone who wants to come here
needs to be reconsidered.Google "New Gumballs video" and see how
immigration - even legal immigration - will never help the worlds poor to
achieve a better life. We actually do the poor a dis-service by taking the
"cream of the crop" from other countries and bringing them to
America. If we truly want to help the poor and downtrodden, then we
must help them in their own countries. And we do not do that by
giving them handouts. It doesn't work here and it won't work
there.Google "Immigration by the numbers video" to see how
the numbers are overwhelming us and killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.
Pretty soon, no more eggs and no more goose. We will be just like the
countries that they came from. Why doesn't immigration work
like it did when our ancestors came? Because now we are a socialist welfare
state and not the free enterprise nation that we once were. Too many safety
nets for everyone, illegal or not. Wake up America! Apply term
limits this election.
@ Patriot "Romney's policy : go back home and come to America
the legal way"I wish that I could be sure that this is really
Romney's policy but I sadly suspect as time goes bythat we will see
that Romney's policy will look too much like Obama's policy.Google "Letter to Mitt Romney from fellow LDS member" to see why it is
so hard to define the position of Mitt Romney.Conservatives and
especially LDS members will have a hard time this election of not
"transferring their own positions" automatically onto Mitt Romney. The sad thing is that it leaves us between a rock and a hard spot. Better concentrate on the US House and Senate races as I don't
think there is any salvation for our nation in the presidential election.
Immigration is a sensitive issue around the world. Governments become ruthless
and their people cross the borders to get reprieve or die. They live in camps
that are not worthy for rats and are treated not much better from their hosts.
They live and die in squalor and little kids don't have much hope of
getting to the age of six and if they live not getting educated or develop a
skill for a job due to language differences. Our country is one of the last
stars these people look at but can never get to. We offer hope and a desire for
many to come. The issue of the H-1B visa will probably help in Utah county as
most of the developers and programmers with Adobe have a variety of backgrounds
in their employee and contractor names. Immigration is a tough topic as jobs
and and lives are impacted since we have allowed people access to get her
illegally. Utah is very susceptible to that as our State and Country was
founded by people from all backgrounds. However, some illegals may be exploited
and that is a sin and a crime but money is an immigration factor.
The amnesty lobby has some powerful allies. La Raza tries to convince LEGAL
hispanics that they should vote to allow continued freebies to the illegal alien
trespassers. The various small business lobbies also are putting a lot of
their efforts into guaranteeing their continued exploitation of illegal
aliens.LEGAL hispanics don't want to support freeloaders any
more than the rest of us, but the various lobbies are trying to make them think
they should. WHY the federal govt. doesn't ENFORCE e-verify
(and other provisions)of federal laws also is mind boggling.Romney
campaigned on a "TOUGH STANCE" towards illegal alien trespassers. If he
wants to change his mind, I for one will be voting for Ron Paul. The
situation is untenable, we actually have only about 1 or possibly 2 election
cycles when the U.S. WILL BE a third world country similar to what the illegal
trespassers are leaving.
@marcamus-----------"Don't hate the immigrant. If an
employer is exploiting the H1b or L visa, hate the employer, but not the
immigrant. -------------I stated already that I do not blame any
foreign worker. ---------"I would suggest that legal
immigration, especially the highly skilled are a net boon to the economy. They
open businesses, create jobs, create technology that opens more businesses, and
add beneficial diversity."Unfortunately, almost all of the visas
are NOT used for that purpose. For every few businesses that are created by
foreign workers there are hundreds of thousands of US workers who have been
displaced and moved into unemployment by the visas. Remember, the economy can
appear to be moving along with foreign workers, while US workers remain un-hired
and unemployed. Don't fall for the trap pushed by CEOs that so-called
"highly skilled" foreign workers are a net boon to the economy. Again,
ALMOST ALL of the H-1B visas are used by average, every-day skilled foreign
workers and Americans are passed over. Nobel Prize Economist and
free market champion Milton Friedman called the H-1B visa "a subsidy"
given to employers.

Wow, nothing like turning to the dark side. I complete disagree with both Obama
and Romney. Neither one gets it. Of all people, Romney should understand that by
enforcing the current laws on immigration we show the world that our laws have
substance. When we pick and chose the laws we will enforce, then our word means
nothing. We will not be trusted as a country and neither will our leaders (if
you can call them that). Let's begin by demanding Obama prove he is who he
says he is. Is he legally here or is he too an illegal. He has never produced an
authentic birth certificate or selective service card and he continues to use
the social security number of someone else who lived in Connecticut. It's
time to deny all illegals everything that is given to a citizen. Once they
understand that they will get NOTHING, then perhaps the invasion will be
curtailed and eventually stopped without mass deportations; however, let's
not refrain from deporting; and how about cleaning out our prisons of the
hundreds of thousands of illegals and shipping them back to their own countries
and let them deal with them.
