And yet Gayle Ruzicka and the Eagle Forum campaigned against childhood
immunizations. Parents who had lost young children to vaccine-preventable,
infectious disease, were not premitted to testify before the Utah State
Legislature. This is a woman who has also lobbied against seat belts for
children, women's reproductive health care, rights for the children of
undocumented immigrants, equality for women, gun safety laws to protect children
and even Public Health programs to prevent HIV and tobacco-related cancers. The
Eagel Forum is not good for Utah especialy our childeren.
"'I wanted to illustrate that most of what it takes to save these
kids' lives costs less than $30 and fits inside this backpack,' said
Shah, director of the U.S. Agency for International Development."===============I'm very pleased and encouraged that so many
children who previously would have senselessly and needlessly died just a few
years ago are now living. However, the fact that the remedies are so
inexpensive mostly demonstrate that the real culprit and cause for the tragedy
is the atrocious societies in which these children live. Most run by despotic
tyrants and/or corrupt/inept people who care most about perpetuating their own
power. It costs so little to save these vulnerable lives and the
best, most long-lasting solution is to promote stable, democratic governments
which will in turn provide the economic environment to allow the people to
produce and provide the simple nourishment that will protect their own children.
Samhill is right. Travelus, I think you are looking at the full picture of
the goals of "Eagel Forum."
I was half-asleep when I made comments. I think Travelus was not looking at the
full picture of what Eagle Forum is doing.
The most powerful weapon against poverty and death is strong economic growth.
When poor people everywhere have access to job opportunities, education, and
basic needs then senseless deaths will be reduced. Most poor people today have
access to things that even rich people couldn't even dream of 100 years
ago.Unfortunately, when leftist ideology kills economic growth and
innovation in the name of "fairness" it is the poor who end up suffering
the most. Too many people will cut off their nose to spite their face.
"Redistribute Wealth" is the mantra of those who think not enough money
is "trickling down" so they institute policies that inhibit growth. Tax
and spend policies end up destroying opportunities for people of all levels of
income, not just the rich.
@joecapitalist way to use a story about preventing childhood deaths to
launch into yet another tirade about those with different views on how to
improve the economy.
