Thank you, Christopher, for sharing this account of your experience. What you
say reminds me of a thought that for years now has come to me during each and
every General Conference. It seems that each General Conference presents exactly
what I need to hear and each General Conference seems better than the prior one.
I'm sure you are probably finding that to be true, too.
I teach the 16/17 year olds in Sunday School. One thing I stress is the need to
live a life that is in tune with the spirit; because especially in today's
world, we need access to this type of personal revelation to guide our lives. It is unfortunate how many criticize the concept of living prophets who
can not only be a source of revelation, but who instruct us so eloquently as to
how we may receive revelation within our own spheres.Like the good
brother from Lindon, Stephen Ehat, I too have benefited from personal revelation
in my own life. Articles like this are always timely.
I loved his talk. Bismarck temple is such a special temple. We've been
there several times. I love elder scotts talk. Thank you for publishing your
Wow! Great letter! Speaking personally, I need to be far better at putting into
practice all the amazing counsel and guidance we receive from the Brethren at
Conference. It is so wonderful to be blessed to have living Prophets to follow.
The very fact that we have to try to be worthy to attend the temple is
terrific. Makes me a far better person for sure. Our Savior and His father
really do love us as do all the Brethren in the First Presidency and the Quorums
who have stewardship over us.
What Chris "heard" are the Words of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the
Christ. To Him be the glory, NOT a speaker at an event. These words of
guidance and trust are available in the Holy Bible...and theyare in no way
connected to not fasting, not dressing down for an "endowment"ceremony, etc. There are those who cannot fast...and the Holy
Spirit speaks to them as to us...There are those who cannot get to a
"temple" buiding, and yet receive the sameComfort and Guidance
from our God.It is wonderful this man received the guidance he so
desperately needed to clearhis thinking and guide his decisions.
