Amazing! Some people see this coming together by chance over a long period of
time. Others see organization, intelligence, and creation.People
would laugh if I said a watch formed from a rock which exploded long ago, but
would believe a more complex process just happened by chance.Go
Only one high tide per day? Either Mr. Law or his source isn't very good
at science after all. The great majority of locations on earth have TWO high
tides per day, not the one that you imply when you say that the side of the
Earth opposite the moon has a low tide at that time. A much clearer
explanation of tides is available at straightdope dot com. Just search the word

Re wordI too believe in God and creation. However the
reasoning you make use of to support the existence of God is suspect. If this creation couldn't exist on its own, how is it that a creator
which has to be much more complex and marvelous can exist?
worf: "People would laugh if I said a watch formed from a rock which
exploded long ago, but would believe a more complex process just happened by
chance."Paley's watchmaker has been refuted many times by
smarter folks than I, so I'll defer to them. As to "chance," if
you are referring to evolution by natural selection, it is anything but chance.
That's the whole point of the word "selection." The process of
evolution is decidedly not a matter of chance and depends on nonrandonmess
(differential survival and reproduction). Selection is mediated by natural
events; no intelligent agency is required.
Nice story, good writing, several "facts" are simply wrong. The one
that leaped out at me first was that the centrifugal force keeping the moon
distant was because the earth and the moon rotate around a common point -
correct. But that common point is NOT the sun! It is a location between the
center of the earth earth and the moon. From Wikipedia: "...which lies
about 4600 km from Earth's centre (about three quarters of the Earth's
radius)." The common orbit around the sun has nothing to do with the force
that keeps the moon away from the earth.
Sorry guy, but there's too much organization for the rationalization of
"selection".There are selections in the forming of a school
bus, and intelligence played a huge part of it, and so it is with the earth, and
its thousands of different species.
The one thing that natural selection and evolution cannot explain is why two
genders are necessary for procreation...there are a few species that only need
one gender...why did this not occur right across the board? Unless, that is, it
was intentional, part of some Grand Design...
