Sounds like this kid just wants to find a large school in Pac 12, that is bigger
than Oregon State, that will help him get to the NFL, that is out of state and
that will offer his friend a scholarship and that is not University of Utah. If he can't get all of that, he'll go to BYU?Sounds like a reasonable kid.
Ha ha.. No kidding.Kid should just worry about getting another
option (i.e., offer) and not having BYU pull their scholly by him playing the
game too long..
So much for mighty Utah.
Oregon State? He must be 17 and still in HS. Can we please not put
these kids comments out there like this. It really makes them look like,
well...kids.Keep working hard and stay in school.
Good Lord, he is a 17 year old kid. How about we don't pick him apart on a
public forum? Nothing wrong with dreaming big - the kid can flat out play and
seems like a nice young man, and I will bet that he gets an opportunity at a big
out of state school. BYU has offered, Utah has not. If Ute fans (I am one)
want him to go to Utah, maybe they should tell the Utes to recruit him harder.
Man all the cougars are out in full force on this one, as they think it matters
where one kid decides to play, in the "in state rivalry".The
bottom line is, there are 100's of kids just as capable, who we've
never heard of, that would be happy to play at Utah, BYU, Boise State, or
whoever offers them a scholarship. Just because this article ended up in the
DNews, people here are making it out like this kid is the second coming of
Walter Payton. If he doesn't sign in-state the cougs program will fall
apart. Good luck to this kid, wherever he ends up. Hopefully,
he'll progress to the point he can actually play D-1 football, even though
after reading the article, people have him winning the heisman. When will all
the foolish hype and mindless postings end?
@TheNun"When will all the foolish hype and mindless postings
end?"When BYU drops its football program.
@thenunOf the 7 comments on this article only one is from a BYU fan
and this is it in its entirety."So much for mighty utah." -
CougarBlueThat's it. Nothing else. No heisman proclomations, no
Walter Payton comparisons, nothing at all.Instead we have 6 utah
"fans", like yourself, trying to make points of no relevence to what is
So he wants play for a good team that plays against great teams every week and
does well against those teams?Well that excludes BYU(see half WAC
schedule and 0-8 against best 6 teams played last 2 years).LOLHe's big on the Pac 12. Can't blame him. The BCS is a
beautiful thing.I heart my BCS membership, 2 BCS games, 2 BCS wins,
BCS money, and BCS quality athletes. And byu does not have any of
Chris B,You are exactly right, he is big on the PAC 12, but notice
Bernard would take a non PAC 12 school over a PAC 12 school if he stays in
state? Wow, ever wonder why so many good football players make that choice?
Kralon,If he chooses a non Pac 12 instate school it will probably be
a mutual decision(he's not Utah quality of a player).The
article is generous in saying there has been some attention(yet I don't see
Whit has offerred a scholarship).Whittingham knows he can get 80% of
the in-state recruits that he wants, which is why we have 2 BCS games, 2 BCS
wins, 2 undefeated seasons, and a BCS invitation.Bronco is focused
mainly on setting up powerhouse firesides and competing for another WAC
championship. The future of football in Utah, is UTAH
Whittingham knows he can get 80% of the in-state recruits that he wants, Chris,That is a false statement. Look no further than the fact
that Troy Hinds chose BYU over a Utah that wanted him very badly. 80%.....in
your dreams. You can't even back up half of what you say on these boards.
Utah has said they would offer Bernard if he would give them an early commit,
but he is not ready to commit yet
Whit knows what he is doing, he is not going to offer this kid. Good luck at
YBU. By the way, I saw Herriman play Skyline and Olympus. Bernard looked good v
Skyline and pretty good v OLY. Oly just keyed on him and made their big QB
throw. Way too many dropped balls by the WRs. They also could not block. I would
think with that many kids, they could find a receiver that could catch and
block. If they do, teams will not be able to key on Bernard, and he will have
another big year. I just don't think the Utes need him. They are loaded for
years to come at RB. The Kewgs could use anything they can get.
