Drilling outline called 'a model on how to do it right'
Glad to see that oil companies are finally starting to realize that they do not
have to destroy the world in order to extract fossil fuels.
See, if people use some sense, energy extraction and environment can co-exist.
This is a refreshing story. It seems that most times we here about
environmental groups criticizing new ventures and business folks criticizing
environmentalists. Hopefully, this will serve as a model of practice that can
help us meet our energy needs while conserving those unique landscapes that add
significantly to our quality of life.
These posters act like the energy companies are out to destroy something and
without the enviros, they would loot and pillage. Nothing could be further
from the truth. As the sign for Temple Square says: Come and
see. Much of the development over the past few years is on state land and
privately owned land. SUWA and its friends have no reach there, and you cannot
tell where the federal land starts/stops and the state land start/stops. Companies have excellent environmental staff and use the best available
technology they can with or without the enviro groups. While SUWA
is smiling about this one, I don't think it is because the drilling permit
was given. There is probably more to the story....
