I must say, I'm proud of the work ethic our guys showed, even though they seemed
to be severely out-matched.That said, it's hard not to feel like
things could have been a bit different if Carlino had been on the bench, rather
than on the court. His 5 turnovers felt like 15, and his decision making on
shots was poor. In fact some of those missed shots were sufficiently
I'll-advised that they probably should have counted as turnovers. Here's hoping he's humble enough to realize he needs a lot of work to play at
this level, so he gets after it in the off season.
love the heart and hustle of this team but do we really think Carlino's shot is
going to improve over his time here? I do agree he will improve and I love his
demeanor on the court he just doesn't have a very pure shot.
As good as Brandon Davies is, and as valuable as he is to the team, he too,
needs to learn when to dribble, when to pass, and when to shoot. Too many
turnovers, too many ill-advised shots. Had I been the coach, I would have
benched him in the second half, even if it was for a minute, when he took that
three that he missed so badly. It was not his shot and it was too early in the
possession, at a critical time. I think it would have been a good teaching
moment to bring him to the bench to learn that he shouldn't try to be a hero and
try to do something not in his game. Better he learn it in the last game this
year, rather than have him keep doing that as a senior.
