Everyone is fighting for the soul of the Republican party.Romney is
a good manager, but he lacks the solidarity that anchors him completely on
Constitutional principles and rights. His lack of understanding on the role of
congress in war, his support for the NDAA, and other red flags show his apathy
towards the protection of the Constitution. I would rather think he is ignorant
to his violations, rather than blatantly ignoring Constitution principle.I am afraid of his hawkish attitude. Romney may make Billions of cuts to
government spending, but may incur Trillions of dollars in a war with Iran. You
can't be a fiscal conservative and a war liberal.FInally, his
previous support of TARP and other bills that are crony-capitalistic and even
socialistic makes me worry.Romney may be a good manager, but he is
shaky when he stands on principle. When one is shaky on principle, you cannot
expect a consistant performance, but rather scattered.
We may not have some of our regulars on this thread tonight. They love to tell
us Mormons that we are paranoid and delusional with an inferiority complex when
we suggest there is still some anti-Mormon feeling out there that has an effect
on this race. Watching the CNN and Fox News exit polls and see the shockingly
high percentage of people who say they won't vote for Romney because of their
religion...it is truly sobering.
Exit polling showed yesterday that Romney has a problem. He has chased the
conservative wing to no avail, selling his soul, and the religious right still
won't vote for him. This says a lot about this country, and, unfortunately,
esquire, what does bigotry have to say about romney. your comments make no
"... that religious bigotry is Âa shame, Âa disgrace,Â
and Âvery, very unfortunate.Â---But it is so
very natural that it is practiced by nearly every religion including Mormons.
ÂItÂs remarkable that the Republicans are in such disarray that they
just seem unable to pick a candidate, The Democratic Party is in the same
disarray. The reason is that "we live in a world where moral
character ofttimes is relegated to a position secondary to... personal
charm."I think we should vote out all those who are there who
have caused the problems we have. Are we better off now than we were 4 years
Alumni,Romney has pandered to the right wing. He is so afraid of
saying what he believes because of the far GOP right. His lack of conviction to
his beliefs was painfully apparent when he talked about the Blunt legislation.
He initially made a very reasonable assessment, but then walked it
back for fear of the right. That DOES say a lot about Romney. Not
that he is bigoted.
I can give you 1000 reasons NOT to vote for Obama and one of them is his
continual fight against Christianity. The most anti-Christian man ever in the
White House. From "We are not a Christian nation" to his demand of the
removal of all Christian symbols during speaking assignments at Christian
universities to the current fight with the Catholic church. Religion should play
a part - a BIG part!!

schools, buildings, or laws.America was started on an escape from
religious persecution. Your freedom to belief what you want is protected but
our rights to have a state separate from a church has never been the case. It
needs to be.To quote you again regarding whomever is in the White
House:"Religion should play a part - a BIG part!!"Then head to a different country such as the Middle East .... when you're not
busy bombing them for pushing the same thing.
In a general election, if religion becomes an issue, the comparison of Mitt
Romney with Barack Obama cannot help President Obama. He spent 20 years in
Jeremiah Wright's church listening to sermons 99 percent of Americans would find
