I wanted Huntsman to win the nomination. He has common sense. I realize that
is viewed as a "character flaw" by the extreme in Republican circles.
Out of curiosity, I did a google search on Fox huntsman
"republican party is broken"Could find NO Fox news stories.
The mainstream media ignores or minimizes credible public figures, such as Jon
Huntsman, and focuses on GOP candidates' idiocy and non-solutions to issues of
importance in the USA. It's a sad commentary on the political process and upon
the American voters who don't demand better.I didn't particularly
care for Jon Huntsman as our governor. However, I would vote for him as
presidential candidate. The more I listen to him, the more I respect his views,
his insight, and his ability to responsively tackle the hard issues we face.
With the entertainment value the "leaders" are providing, why would the
media pay any attention. With the comedy raging, no one wants to watch anything
as boring as facts.
It's ridiculous to say that the "mainstream media" is ignoring Huntsman.
The media was gaga over Huntsman during his entire presidential run. NPR
reporters appeared baffled by his poor showing in the GOP primaries. While
serving as governor Huntsman gave an opening address to a crowd of out of state
film makers, and had them eating out of hand! The only reason he is being
ignored now is that he has dropped out of the race, and the GOP primaries are
drowning out all other news. Jon Huntsman is a very attractive centrist
candidate, and when the GOP regains their senses and moves back to the middle,
Huntsman could be humming "Hail to the chief"!
So the Deseret News is upset that the media isn't covering Jon Huntsman, who has
dropped out of the race? Where is your concern about the blackout treatment of
Ron Paul, who is still in the race, and of which this newspaper has been a
part?Look, I like Jon Huntsman as much as any of the other
candidates, but I think his approach was wrong. "You guys are crazy
lunatics, vote for me" is not a winning campaign slogan. Whether they
deserve it or not, it's not a good idea to insult the base of the party whose
nomination you are seeking. If Jon Huntsman had talked more about conservative
tax policies, free market health care legislation, and the things he
accomplished in our state, he would have had a chance. But instead, he wanted
to constantly tell the base how unenlightened they are for not believing in
evolution and climate change. And to add to that, he abandoned his promise to
run a civil campaign in some of the most negative ads I have seen.
When Huntsman discusses China, he has credibility. When he talks about the
Republican Party, that's another story. He was not even a credible candidate for
president...why would we not listen to his opinions about the party and the
primary? As far as his governorship, that's where his credibility
tanked. He ran on one platform, then governed on another...not a recipe for
voter confidence. The only people who liked him as governor either knew his true
colors from the get-go, or didn't vote for him because he campaigned as a
conservative. And to top it off, watching the guy on TV gave me (and
several other acquaintances) the sensation of fingernails on a chalkboard. Ron
Paul is irritating as well, but he's a likable sort of irritatingÂhe's
either slam spot-on or mildly eccentric in a "crazy uncle" sort of way.
With Huntsman, the irritation doesn't go away until you can't see him or hear
him any more. The only mystery to me is why the media paid any
attention to him in the first place!
So the "Republican Party is broken" because you didn't get any traction
in the campaign for the nomination? Whatever...sorry dude...you aren't as
wonderful as you may think. China is manipulating their currency and not
playing by the rules? What about Ben Bernanke and the Federal Reserve? They are
the biggest currency manipulators in the world. What rules is Big Ben playing
by? The Treasury overspends and Big Ben buys their debt. We create the debt and
buy the debt- nothing odd, manipulative, or frightening about that.
Huntsman is just a regular guy now, just like you or I, so why does he deserve
any coverage at all?
