Reeves sounds like a very insecure player, trying to bully others. Glad Carlino
was smarter and left. Glad to have him here.
It sounds like the coach was looking the other way when he should have been
looking out for "all" the players. NOT a good coach. I'm glad that he
decided to transfer to the Y.
Carlino has played at how many schools in consectutive years since his high
school playing days? It will really surprise me if he ends his career at BYU.
Many find their way to BYU for various reasons. Heaps was a victim of an over
inflated ego and poor on-field performance otis. I am happy Carlino found his
way to BYU. He will likely finish his career at BYU as one of the top point
guards ever to play there.
As a UTE fan, I laughed when the Gonzaga crowd "...chanted you're no
Jimmer".After reading this article, the laughter stops. The kid is clearly a tough competitor. He has amazing potential.Good luck to Carlino (except of course when he plays against the UTES).
Glad to have Carlino as a BYU guy. I think most can relate how difficult it can
be being around someone who is negative. It takes the fun out of what should be
fun, especially playing hoops. Nothing new to hear of someone
"quitting" due to a bad relationship, bad environment, etc, there is no
shame in quitting from that, just plain smart! It was a smart move. Go Carlino
and go BYU!
Otis: Sorry, when was Heaps injured and unable (medically) to play? I missed
that part of the season...Carlino was injured and was pressured to
play. Doing so before the body is ready only increases the chances of doing
more damage.Glad you're a Cougar, Matt!
Go to the SI article, read the whole thing, and then join me in again being
grateful for our team and coach. The contrasts in style and
philosophy between Coach Rose and Coach Howland couldn't be more stark, and a
comparison of win-loss records says it all. Go Cougars!
I think New Mexico and UNLV has UCLA transfers. Does anyone know?
Where is Reeves Nelson now? Dismissed from the UCLA team in December. Enough
Worf, you are right. Mike Moser transferred from UCLA to UNLV. Drew Gordon is
New Mexico's transfer from the Bruins.
UU32 I think you are wrong, when you say Carlino won't finish at BYU. Why
wouldn't he? Everybody loves him at the Y and he actually has a coach who will
stick up for his players no matter what. Oh yeah and he will be a four year
NevadaCougOverton, NV,I wonder if Reeves, and coach had
something to do with their transfers?
How'd I forget that one? UNLV's Chace Stanback was also a UCLA transfer.
They've got two of them.
Read the whole article, if you have time. Howland's supporters may well be
right, that nobody has a better basketball mind, but that alone will not create
a proud program. How many assistants and players have left the program? You
can't expect every coach to be John Wooden, but UCLA needs to value more than
W-L to regain their former glory.
Cougarnate - I hope you are right. I enjoy watching Carlino play at the Y. But
his past team hopping (which started long before the UCLA incidents) can at
times be an indicator of things to come. Rose is very good at taking care of his
players though, so maybe this will be Matt's final stop in college.
as much as i cant stand you delusional y fans i must admit that yall are right.
matt definitely deserved a better situation than to stay with a coach who
allowed that type of CRAP on his team period. thats ridiculous. earlier this
year i heard about reeves being kicked off the team and going overseas, then i
hear he's not even there anymore. i heard it was cause his contract was up but i
think there are other reasons to go along with why he had such a short contract.
